Actually it happed to me -More than Once.
When in my college , there were mny Gills who Asked me -- "Do you love me ?" sometimes to defend them and to avoid them from getting deppressed and similar factors .I said "Yes,I Love you !"
Just to see the SMILE on her Face

I personally could never say those words and not mean them. I have to mean it and feel it before I can say "I love you" to someone. Those words have a special meaning and it's not in me to not mean them.

I think the words get used so much that they actually can lose their meaning.
For example, If I said, "I Love You" to my husband he might say "I love you" back to me kind of as a ... you said it, now I have to say it thing.

yes it is possible to say this and not mean it. I unfortunately am guilty of this. Once a boyfriend of mine told me he loved me and I didnt know what to say without it being awkward so I said 'I love you too'. I regretted that and I will never do it again because it wasnt fair to him and I wouldnt want someone who doesnt mean it to say it to me.

i think it is possible to say those words..we use them everyday ..so most of the time its the actions that back up the words that has meanings not the words..at least for me it is..

well thanks for that but i mean more when you are with someone your parner, why would you tell them that you love them when you dont?
why would you want to feel that you have to lie to them. Surly it would be easier to be honest and end the rel if you really feel that you have to lie wouldn't it?
thanks for your comment

Yes... but in my defence, I thought I did, but after.. I realized I didn't.. and that I'd made a huge mistake.

yeah but is a bit different as when you said it at the time you meant it, its only later that you realized that you did not, I mean more when someone says it your partner and you know full well that you do not love that person but you still tell them that you do

yeah i say it to friends and family and i do mean it, but i mean in sense of telling someone that your with, I just can not understand to why you would tell someone that you love them and you dont, If you have to lie to maintain a rel is it really worth being in that rel, would it not be kinder to end the rel

I don't remember a time when I've said it without meaning it. I think I'd have to feel it and feel that I'd mean it before I could say it. IdiotFace said it to me before and while I did like him, I didn't feel like I loved him, so I never said it back. Turns out there was a reason! He turned out to be, well... an idiot! To put it nicely, anyway...
