This is a lovely, delicious fruit which is loved by many people especially in South India. It looks rugged from outside but very very sweet inside. People prepare a number of lovely dishes with this fruit and even store it for years. But peeling and removing the flesh from inside is really a tough job and needs a good skill and cleaning the place is more difficult too after the fruit is cut.
Have you tasted this fruit? What is the most you like about it?

oh yes, I just ate a jackfruit yesterday and today. My co worker harvested a very big jackfruit and it looks like very sweet. I never thought that it can be eaten as it is because we used to eat them cooked with sugar. Well now I know so when we harvest our jackfruit I will be putting them on the table like what I have seen yesterday and today. Never thought really,

Hi there and smile
Jackfruit can also be purchased frozen, dried, or canned either in brine (usually unripe) or in syrup (ripe and sweet). If using fresh jackfruit, it's a good idea to oil your knife and hands first before cutting, as the fruit is very sticky.
Jackfruit seeds (nuts) can be roasted like chestnuts, or boiled. If left to cook inside the flesh (for example, in curries or other cooked dishes), the nut softens and can easily be eaten.
Jackfruit contains many vitamins and minerals, and offers numerous health benefits. The fruit's isoflavones, antioxidants, and phytonutrients mean that jackfruit has cancer-fighting properties. It is also known to help cure ulcers and indigestion.
Happy mylotting and smile always!

I do like jack-fruits. It's also my son's favorite. We do have a few trees back in the province and it's of a very good kind, the flesh is thick and big, and best of all it's sweet. I like it sweetened and mixed to halu halo, a Filipino favorite especially during summer time.

I really like the taste of the jackfruit. Yes the skin of it is a challenge to remove but when you come up with the fruit inside and taste it, worthy taste are the words to describe it. One of the famous dessert here in the Philippines is halo halo. They add jackfruit on it and swear this is a very delicious dessert recipe. It is a mixture of purple yum, pinipig crunch, sweeten banana, cubed boiled sweet potatoes, nata de coco, coconut shreds, sweeten monggo beans, crushed ice to make it cool, evaporated milk, sugar, additional toppings of jackfruit, ice cream or leche flan... and the taste is heaven! You must try this mouthwatering dessert and you will love it, believe me!!! Enjoy!

Jack fruit is also available here in the Philippines. I didn't know it was also available in India. Well, we also have a name for it called "langka". It tastes great and it's very sweet. Unfortunately if you eat too much it can cause stomach aches. It's also easy to go bad. That's why we boil it with sugar to make jack fruit preserves. We also boil the seeds, since they're full of nutrients.

yes I like jackfruit a lot. I like the smell and people can tell if one is eating jackfruit.
Before we transfered to a new home we had a jackfruit plant and we get to harvest the fruits and share with the neighbors. Now, we rely on my cousin' jackfruit tree. But sometimes my uncle forgets to harvest and the fruit is already overripe so I will make it into a jam or candied jackfruit. I like it chilled.

I am a Keralaite and I like jack fruit a lot. My mom's house has around 6-10 jack trees and I enjoy the season of jack fruit. We make different dishes out of it. We use it to make puttu, halwa, chips, etc. We also make jack fruit biriyani like tapioca biriyani by adding it with coconut. Nice discussion. You made my mouth watery.

I like also jackfruit we also have it here. We also consider it vegetables we cook the unripe jackfruit we put coconut milk we called it here "ginataang langka" we also make it into salad we boiled it first then we put vinegar, onions, tomatoes and salt to taste. I think I can finish one big jackfruit and one day without satiating. That is the fruit that I like to plant in the land of my father next year. It yields many fruits and it is bears fruit throughout the year.

I love this luscious fruit called jackfruit. We make jam with ripe jackfruit. Curries are also made with raw jackfruit. Like you have said it is really a time consuming job to remove the fruit from the tough outer. Some people believe eating too much of jackfruit can bring about stomach pain. So they eat it with honey. A glass of warm milk taken after eating jack fruit is good and soothing for the stomach.
