For those of us in the United Stated this weekend in Labor Day weekend. Many people plan trips or parties for this weekend as it marks the end of the summer for most of us. So, what are you plans? Are you traveling?
My boyfriend and I are making a trip out to the university he recently graduated from because he still has friends there and we really love the small town where it's located. We plan on hanging out with his friends, eating some comfort foods from some of the restaurants out there that we love and probably doing a decent amount of drinking. We may also visit some of my family, who live fairly close to his alma-mater.

While, normally, I love to travel I tend to avoid doing it on those long holiday weekends. Usually the traffic is very thick then and not everyone is paying attention to their driving. Then of course there are those who will get behind the wheel after they have been partying too much. So usually I just stay home on those long weekends and let everyone else go away.

That makes a lot of sense. In our case with this weekend we were lucky because there wasn't too much traffic except for the normal DC Metro area traffic when we were trying to leave the DC area and we haven't really had to worry about our destination being crowded because our destination was Virginia Tech. They had a big football game this weekend and it was in Atlanta, so a lot of the people around here were gone because they wanted to see the game.

I actually just came back from a trip today so I guess that was my little Labor Day weekend trip. My mom and I went down to visit some friend we haven't seen in about 3 years. There was this get together and we all had a blast eating and chatting. The trip was a bit tiring and I just got home half an hour ago. My brother invited me to go and hang out with him and his friends later. They are going bowling and stuff but I'm not sure if I'll go yet. Maybe after a little nap.

Very cool. My trip has been tiring too. I was expecting a lot of running around, but I also thought I might get some down time to just chill in the hotel room and relax. So far, haven't really had much of that.

No travel plans for me. Actually I am working extra this weekend, since my parents are going out of town and I have to go over to their house to take care of my little bro and the dog. I also have to go over to one of my dad's rental houses to let out the renter's three dogs three times a day. That and I still have my normal weekend babysitting job of four hours a day Friday and Saturday and probably Sunday and maybe even Monday. It is like the literal meaning of Labor Day and not the take rest from Labor as it is meant, but I do not mind because I really need the money.

o_o Wow. It doesn't sound like there's actually enough time in the day for you to do all of that. Good luck. And I hope you get a break soon.

Well, it's basically an ordinary day here too. There isn't much in the way of celebrating really, no traditions or anything like that. It's just a day to rest and families get together for cook outs or go on vacations since it's the end of summer. And it's always a Monday, which means we get to have a long weekend. That's part of the reason for people planning trips, they can go on a short trip to the beach or something without having to worry about taking time off work.
Thank you for the well wishes :)

I live in Massachusetts but am very excited as next Wednesday my husband and I are going to England - so I guess my actual Labor Day will be spent packing!
I am from England and I am going home for only the second time in 5 years so I am looking forward to seeing everyone. Next Saturday is also my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary so we're having a party :0)

Very cool. I don't think I would mind spending my Labor Day packing if I were going to be leaving for England a couple days later. I hope you have a lovely trip and congratulations to your parents. I remember going cross country for my Mom's parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary. I think you'll have a wonderful time at the party. ^_^
