Who has been/wants to go to Peru?

Has anyone ever been to Peru? What did you do there? I would love to go and would love to hear about people's experiences of the country. Any advice for someone wanting to go there? Is there anyone who hasn't been but would like to go? Why would you like to go?

I backpacked through Peru for a few months as a stage on a larger South American trip. I now live in Peru. I highly recommend it. Peru has everything – coast, mountains, jungle, desert and more. My first piece of advice would be to set aside enough time in Peru to see as many things as possible. Machu Picchu and the Nazca lines are only the beginning. There are many other historical sites, colonial cities, jungle villages etc to be seen. Safety sometimes worries some people wanting to travel to Peru. However, if you keep an eye on your surroundings and don't do anything stupid you should be OK! I see other backpackers doing things here (such as walking through empty cities at night with all their luggage) that are just inviting trouble. Act responsibly and respectfully and you shouldn't have many problems.

I would love to go to Peru. I want to see the Incan ruins - Macchu Picchu. I just watched a tv on The Travel Channel where the host visited the ruins. They seemed so beautiful and peaceful. Recently, I have been studying about the Incas and I am very interested in learning more about them. I also love to travel, so I want to go everywhere I can!

I haven't yet been to Peru but it is near the top of my travel wish list. If I go there in the future which I am sure to I would love to see Machu Picchu in the mountains. There is an Inca Trail that goes there and train too. I love to visit historical sites. I am currently learning Spanish.
