Do you think that left-handed people are more creative?

I've heard of studies and statistics that say there is a correlation between creativity and being left handed. It has to do with the side of the brain that is being used more. Different parts of the brain handle different things and if the part of the brain that handles creativity is also the part of the brain which controls the side of the body which is used more often then it would make sense for people whose dominant hand is controlled by the creative half of the brain to be more creative. However, I don't have any real life anecdotal evidence of this. I'm right handed and I feel that I'm fairly creative as well, and I don't normally remember whether the people I know are right or left handed. I'll notice and then forget because it just doesn't matter all that much.

I have read such studies about lefties too! I happen to be left-handed and I happen to be in the creative field . . . but that's me. When I was going to school and work, there were plenty of right handed people who were creative . . . and then there were us left handed folk too. And then there is the the issue of creativeness in "what" way . . . it's kind of a generic term. I will say, however, that I think lefties tend to be more adapatable than righties, simply because we are lefties having to fit in world made for righties.

I am lefthanded and I am creative. But I don´t think that I am creative because I´m left handed. Even if being creative had to do with the predominance of one of the sides of our brain as some theories say, all of us have some potencials but not all of us develope them. I am a writer and I loved to read and loved stories since I started to read an an early age. I´m also a good cook ands don´t follow recipes but create my own dishes. I like to make my dishes beautiful too. I´m sure that all that has nothing to be with my being lefthanded. I´m leftist too. Would that be because I´m lefthanded?

A few people have brought up the right-brain/left hand dominance, ans the studies do indeed suggest that this is allied with creativity. But many left-handed people, particularly in the previous few generations, have been made to become right-handed, which clouds the figures, and creative right handed people seem to be those who have learned to utilise right-brain techniques.

I don't think so too. Even in boxing, my father said left-handed person has an advantage compare to those who are right-handed. He is an avid fan of the famous Manny Pacquiao and he shared that Manny is left-handed so he deliver his punches strongly on the other hand. In terms of creativity, i haven't seen a left handed person do a work of art so i cannot judge this criteria.

I actually am left handed, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I am more creative. What I can say is that there is not a creative endeavor that I don't love to try. There have also been studies that will show that a left handed person is more creatively inclined, based on the fact that a left-handed person uses the right side of their brain more regularly.
However, that said, I think that these kind of studies could well be very skewed because the only way to accurately test this would be to eliminiate any other variable to run the tests. The subjects would have to only be exposed to the same things in their lives, etc. to have a truly accuratae study.

All my close riends are right handed and we are all artists. I blow raspberries in the face of scientific studies. No offense intended to anyone.

I really don't think so either, but it's funny to watch lefties/southpaws write because it's just a bit different. I have friends who are lefties and its so amusing to see them write or do other tasks. Obama is a lefty, my cat is a lefty as well :)

I don't think so, either. Most parents don't want their kids to write with their left hand because it's harder to see what you write than when they write with their right hand (assuming they're writing from left to right). I heard about someone who started out writing with his left hand, but his parents disapproved and made him learn to write with his right hand instead. Now, he's ambidextrous. :)
Maybe, some parents would force their children to be left-handed instead of right-handed. I don't think they should judge people by which hand they write with, but by their actions.
