Can you sleep normally after you wake up from a NIGHTMARE?

Hi People, Everyone have dreams in our sleep. Some may be pleasant and some may be terrifying. After a nightmare we really become afraid of the dream and we use to tremble a lot in the middle of the night if we are sleeping alone. My question is, can you sleep normally after that terrifying dream? Can you make up your mind and body normal and have a pleasant stay on your bed? Or will you be searching for someone to have a hug to make your fear come down? Have you experienced this before? How often you had these kind of dreams? I have had these dreams and I used to pray when I wake up because I'll be alone in my bedroom and I can't search for someone. Do share your experience on this... Cheers... God bless...

Actually people are so easy to forget dreams . When they wake up after a while the dreams will be vague to them. No exception for me . Therefore when i wake up by a nightmare at the first moments i'm afraid but after half an hour i become conscious and i talk to myself that it's just a dream . Then i would go to bed again forcing myself not to think of this dream any more .

Hi phillip_shiny I rarely have a nightmare, but yes, there are some night when I had really bad dream, and after wake up I cry immediately. At that time, I feel rally sad because seems like everything in my dream was real. I feel really glad it's just a dream, but still I feel sad and afraid. It depends on the time. If it's late at night, I can't wake up anyone because I'm alone in my bedroom. So I used to pray repetitiously and usually after some time I would calm again and continue my sleep, or maybe sleep in the middle of my pray,,hehehe.. If it haven't too late at night, I will send text message to my best friend or boyfriend, chat with them and try to care and think about her/his condition and another activity,,or maybe just tell them I have a nightmare. They will be there for me Hope we don't face nightmare anynmore, phillip!

It really depends.. i am not going into what i believe.. but if the %age you are talking about, I always sleep comfortably after having any terrifying dream. Without any hug or something. Just i need to know what to after getting any terrifying dream. I get nightmare because of these reasons, my stomach, something worrying me, or simply something is happening around me.. 3rd case is pretty rare, and it is really get hard to get out of this.. but in other two cases, i just switch my side, and pray, and go to sleep.. nothing then happens .. I also have solution for 3rd option, but you have to get into yourself before.. doing that.. :) yeah my kid or wife normally need hug or something to get out of their nightmares.. but not me.. i need to be brave :)

I think i could not sleep if it is a scary nightmare but if it is a happy nightmare like I am simply laughing and kicking on my bed..then I could sleep afterward after i drink a glass of water and pray. usually my sister woke me up, and usually i never remember my dream..Usually nightmare is a very scary things..I could say it is only a normal dream and not a nightmare is very extreme..

I had nightmare last night, there's a lady who wanted to bite me, I think she's a ghost of something. I couldn't move, as if there's something that sitting on my body and what's weird is I feel I am aware as if I was not dreaming. After a while, I managed to release myself. I stay there didn't dare to move because I was scared that 'something' will be there behind me looking at me. I lied there for a few minutes before gathering myself and went to the living hall. I switch on all the lights in my house. I couldn't sleep after that because I was so scared. I stayed on the sofa and didn't dare to go into my bedroom until the sun came up, luckily only a few hours that was. I will do this every time when I have nightmares, couldn't bring myself back to sleep that quickly. I wish I have at least one housemate that I can run to when I am scared. But living alone make it even scarier.

I am used to it already, I enjoy being alone except for the fact and part where I get scared sometimes. For example, last night the wind was so strong and my sliding door started whistling. Luckily a friend of my was online and we play poker and chat until the rain subsided..

Well, I haven't had an intense nightmare in a long time, but when I was younger, if I woke from a nightmare in the middle of the night, I would usually stay extremely still. Depending on the dream, I would either open my eyes and make sure everything's okay, or I would keep them shut. Usually, my eyes would be tearing, and my whole body would be trembling and sweating. But no matter how much I wanted to throw the covers off and cool down, I laid there motionless.

I am the type of person that can sleep after a nightmare but I will do something about it. Normally when we have nightmare we can easily detect it is anightmare when we woke up. After realizing it, it is depends on the dream how horrible it is, if we can continue sleeping. If for me the dream is not connected to me personaly I will wake up stand up or wake up and pray, and change my sleeping position. there is a worst nightmare, where you can't sleep after because you thought it is true. It really depends on the dream.

I must say that I have not had a nightmare for a really long time! It is terrifying to wake up in a cold sweat and taking a little time to realise that it was just a bad dream. The worst ones appear very real like dreaming of an intruder in the house or something. I’ve had instances when I have woken from a nightmare but I could not recall what it was! I usually cuddle my husband and go back to sleep. As a kid I used to go to mum and dad’s room and wake them up which used to annoy them and now that is exactly what my seven year old daughter does to us!

Ah yes, those nightmares. I find that when you sleep and get too hot then you get nightmares. Young children get lots because parents tend to put too many covers on the bed. That icy cold room will stop most nightmares. Next, if you do get a nightmare and wake up then turn on your other side. If you go back to sleep on the same side, the nightmare can return quickly. All this talk of sleeping makes me want to grab some ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

No problem. When I wake up, I slowly forgetting the nightmare. If I stay awake for awhile, I can go back to sleep and not dream about it anymore. I never search for someone to hug or sleep with after nightmare, even when I was a kid. I was taught to be brave so I need to calm myself down and roll back to sleep. It was scarier when you're young but when you're grown up, you'll get use to it.

I always love dreams, If its a night mare then its more interesting, Just like watching a horror movie. I never had any problems with sleeping after having a horror movie because I wake up in the sense I may open my eyes & after realising its a dream, I go back to sleep & hoping to change the topic. If its an interesting dream & I woke up in between, I have a habit of making a continuation for the dream. I'll just think of the dream, especially the last part before I opened my eyes & just imagine a little bit more in my mind & I sleep, so that the dream will continue!! It works with me

I had several "nightmares" before. One was whe I saw a dark shadow approaching me where I was lying on my bed, I just uttered the Name of Jesus and the dark shadow vanished and I saw light then I was awakened. I knew that only prayer to God could drive away "nightmares" when we sleep. That's why it's important to pray before going to sleep.

I think I can sleep well after getting up from a night mare. I have done it successfully many time. It also depends on the nature of night mare I had. Once I had a night mare and got very scared. I couldn't sleep for the next two days. Then, my grandfather took me to church and the priest made special prayers for me and I slowly came out of it. Normally I sleep fast after a night mare.

After I woke up from a nightmare, I don't usually get back to sleep more if it was terribly bad. Most of the time, I palpitate after suffering from this bad dreams as if my heart is being pounded several times and what I do is I get up and grab a glass of cold water.

absoltely as everyone i have lot of experience in both sweet dreams and nightmares. if i woke up from nightmare definitly im not going to sleep the whole night. i ll keep myself occupied with some work till morning and try sleeping in day time. the other case if had sweet dreams i would go back to sleep and try to get the dream back but it has never happened but love to continue with that dream ha ha.

I can still sleep normally after waking up from a nightmare. I don't know but sometimes right after waking, the nightmare just disappear and I don't usually have a vivid recollection of it. I knew it was terrible but since I am not sure what my nightmare was, it is always forgotten. Sometimes I also drink a glass of water to make myself relax a bit.

My heartbeat goes very high and I run for breath. But after few minutes I feel normal again and i try to think of something nice, something which calms me down and then go back to sleep. I have ben given a separate room since I was 6 yrs old. So I don't really fear nightmares. But its just the momentary restlessness that I need to overcome to get a good nights sleep.
