Do you see the Earth as your mother?

This planet we call home has, from the dawn of man, provided shelter, food, clothing, fuel for warmth, precious metals and gemstones, breathtaking sights, the wonderment of all the earthbound animals and all the creatures of the sea; plus anything our minds could think up, something on this planet provided the raw materials for its manufacture. It has been our base from which to explore space around us, and has always been here to come back to. Do you think of the Earth as your mother?

I call Earth home not mother... I already have a mommy and so don't need one that truly doesn't give two poops whether I live or die... it doesn't even know I exist. LOL

No not really, we're horrified by what is happening to the world because it's the same as your home: surely you like living in a nice clean house as opposed to a dirty, smelly house? Plus we care for our planet because we must live here, we're not afraid of it in anyway... at least I'm not. LOL (Not afraid of grandma either LOL) Nice to know that you fear something LOL.

I can certainly see how you could reach that conclusion, and I thank you for your opinion. But have you ever known of a family where the grandmother was the one who ran the show - no one crossed grandma. I'm not saying she was mean or malicious; she was just one who family knew enough to know not to mess with. Have you ever heard of families like that? That's kind of how I see the Earth. The thought of standing before her and having to explain why I used a cleanser I KNEW to be damaging to fish and/or people makes my knees knock. And the whole thing about the rain forest? I'd hate to be the man who has to take responsibility for that. One country having so much food it throws away more than it consumes, and yet there are children dying for want of food and clean water... We are all responsible if only in some small way, for all of these things that are going on. I don't know about you, but sometimes when I have a moment to think about it, I think what a heavy -- unnecessarily heavy -- load we make for ourselves and others. Peace, Revan

I'm so sorry. I didn't see your comment. I love your quote, "Mother and Motherland are Greater than Heavens..." If only more people thought like you, Earth would be a better place. :)

I see the Earth as a beautifully complex eco system. I see the genius behind the balance of it all with it's ability,so far, to handle everything man can throw at it. There is so much to learn before man can understand it all. Of course, there will come a day when all kids must clean their rooms. I just wish man would start sooner.

Not at all. I think of the Earth as just a large chunk of rock on which I happen to live. Related quote: "That's where I keep all my STUFF!" ~The Tick
