How beginners promote a blog?

How to promote a blog? I always see this question here in myLot, and I try to help to the best I can.
It now inspired me to make a blog post about it. Since this topic is quite long, I decided to make it a 3-part post and here is Part One - http://fatherblogger.com/2009/09/05/how-to-promote-a-blog-for-beginners-part-one/
It talked about SEO, forum signature, leaving comment on blogs, guest blogging, and submitting articles to article directories.

Use social media, submit your article to article submission ste and social bookmakr, suggest submit to ezinearticle and digg which can drive good traffic. Besides, try to include your blog URL at your signature at forum, this will also generate good traffic. Other than that, you can also consider to submit video to yourtube and post answer at yahoo answer, all of them helps in generating traffic

By the way, I just published a blog post entitled How to Promote a Blog for Beginners: Part Three. It discuss some things on how to use your blog as a promotional tool itself, which means you can promote your blog without going elsewhere but on your blog.

U are an expert in blogs and it's good that u are sharing your secrets here with all bloggers!! Too bad i dun have any blogs, and dun have the time to maintain one too, thus i can only be trying to help spreading the word around.. haha =D
Having a blog is way too confusing and tedious for me, and even trying to earn from it, is way too slow as well.. hehe ^_^ PLus, blog might look simple, but the process of creating one, is not as simple though.. hehe
