Are not you living with crisis of faith?

We tend to live in an era or say world where there is crisis of faith and trust. People are lost in the euphoria of affluence. We are far from cherishing the ideals of love, tolerance and sacrifice. We suffer from a sense of alienation. Suffering for others and enduring pains and loneliness is the hallmark of human beings and human society as well. When our hearts are starved and brains hollow wealth and money can not help. If anything can solace us is love and friendship. we need not be all philanthropic but the basic human traits should not be missing. What is you take on these lines. Please share. Rajib. 5.9.9

Hi Raj, as humans we should not give up our self effort but rather should accept the reality of life. It is about recognizing when it is time for action and when it is time to sit it out. After you have done all that is humanly possible during a period of crisis and the situation is till beyond your ability to remedy, you must anchor yourself with the spirit of endurance. Let the dark night pass. One thing is certain in life, its ever changing nature. If we value our thoughts and use them carefully as we use money, we will never find ourselves spiritually bankrupt.

Hi zands, When things are already deteriorated and in extreme bad shape one person alone can not mend the damage. We would then need a collective process and this would be possible only if we as individual start realizing the essence of living and the ideals of life. Sure we have to accept the reality and just basing on the reality we have to chalk out plans for the future. Now just feel how hollow and swallow have become our life and an emptiness chases all the while. And I thunk we would be successful to rebuild the lost faith and trust for each other.

That is a very good assumption you have made and I have to say that I agree with you. I too believe that in today's society that people have lost touch with what is really important for the wealth and success that they seek today. I also believe that this longing for riches is the cause as to why people feel the emptiness inside no matter what wealth they reach. I feel we are all searching for the wrong things in life.

Hi rachela, Look friend material gain is not all. What makes you human is missing there and men can not become an emotionless robot. But situations are on way in this way. This is an omen that we avoid people, we are detached from our friends and family. We have least time for devotion and self realization. This is long that we had whole heartedly helped our needy neighbors. but today even if one is screaming we lend a deaf ear. where is the human in you? Thank a lot.

I think that you are right in blaming material things for an absence on one's life. When people depend on things for happiness, they will always be disappointed and feel emptiness. Unfortunately, our society keeps telling us that things will make us happy and many of us believe it. That is the basis for all the ills of society. My Bible says "the love of money is the root of all evil" and never was such a right thing said!

We need to change ourselves and teach by example. People will not change unless they truly want to. If they see that you are happy and yet have very little material goods, they will wonder how you do it. You can influence those around you and make their lives more fulfilling by demonstrating that things don't bring happiness, that people do. It's a slow process but the only way to teach such things. Have a wonderful day!

Hi there, Though you have said your say in quite short sentences it speaks a volume. The Bible said version is all correct and all people are doing the opposite and where would live the ideals of life and the faith and trust? We need change but how ?

Hi there, very well wrought though. So we have to change ourselves first and show how happiness could be made oozing out even with the minimum of the requirements. Yes, it would surely be slow process but unless we set example ourselves it would be crying in the wilderness.

Oh ya buddy! Euphoria of affluence- I like that! Like Jimi Hendrix said: When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. I try very hard not to take on these traits and I beleive that you must keep that true in your own little corner of the world.

And we need to be cognicent of all of this in our little corner of the world. Take care of our own and hope that others do the same. Sad but true.

Hi celti, Yes this is the euphoria of affluence that people are drowned and are oblivious of the real idealisms of life and philosophy. This is would not do unless a drastic step is taken and spread all over.

all i can say is that you actually described what i am feeling right now and for few days back actually. i feel like my heart is starved of love and friendship and no matter how much money i have it does not fill the void inside . but friendship and love is not easy to find nowadays when life is getting complicated as far as my life in concerned. when other people seem to find life and friendship as easy as they would find a food inside their fridge. i hope that it is just as easy. that i would just go out and would go to someone or a friend house and the my life will be better. but to find good friend prove to be very difficult nowadays. and there are so many good people around but not many willing to be a good friend. they can only be good people in a way they will good citizens but to be your personal friend is just another story. cause people has the right to choose their friends.

Hi hotsummer, You got the jolt already. And believe me this is not only you, almost all are starved of love and affection. But getting none to share for we have forgotten in the material race what principles and ideals of human beings should have been. Now you are telling that you are looking for people to befriend but they would not. As they too are starved souls like the character of Dr.Faustus. They would not believe you as you are alien and keeping faith and trust could bring them disaster which is mere a hypothesis but who would make them understand that you are not what they are thinking? Here I say we are living in a crisis of faith.

No, I am not living in crisis of faith. The real crisis of faith is not going to come from the challenge of scientific cosmology, but from our losing sight of the Christian mysteries and the faith and love needed to contemplate them ever more deeply and try to express them ever more adequately. Morwood, demolishing theological straw men, i.e., a male God up in the sky, is not going to take us very far in that direction.

Hi sunstar, Nice knowing that you are not living in crisis of faith. But know what? Most of us are. and the reality is that we are growing more and more materialistic and have forgotten the ideals of fraternity. Love is getting commercialized. Thanks for the response.

I believe love is the one thing that us as human beings need most in life. Love is the number one most important thing in life that we long for and always try to compensate with material goods just as you have stated.

Well, i think that love is a very important human feeling, but love is not something that makes us human,i think that our search for knowledge is what makes us humans. When we get stuck in a religious world and start acting like machines, in that moment we stop being humans. Im really sorry about my bad english, im mexican. Cheers to everybody

Hi Rajib, Thanks for this discussion, it's something that we should all be looking at carefully. Unless we return to some semblance of caring for one another, we are in for some difficult years ahead. Most people today seems to be thinking,"what's in it for me?" How did we get so far from the teachings of the greatest men and women who have ever lived, for they all taught that we must love and care for one another. I have seen big changes in the way we treat each other, even in my lifetime, what will happen in the next sixty or seventy years? At the same time we must not be blind to the good that is still left in the world, for therein may lie the hope of the future. Blessings.

Hi there, Yes this serious now. All humanity is at a stake. Care for each other is either corrupt or non existent. The semblance has worn its original code and all is bare. I feel myself I am in real crisis of faith. Look this virtual friendship here at mylot, who shall I take to be the real and who the fake? Who shall I trust and who not? We suspect everyone before accepting as a fellow being. what is there to deteriorate? Still I feel time is not over and we all did something worthwhile. Thank you...

I think it all boils down to lack of love and value of the self. If that is missing nothing will make a person happy. The sad thing is that we all basically want the same things out of life to love and be loved but some try to replace love with material things, hatred and delusions of grandeur. That is the true lack of faith. If only we could see that we are all in this together and try to help each other instead of beating each other down...

Paula, just fancy how secure you feel to trust an alien, how do you care for your neighbor, how much time you give to yourself and your beloved ones, when did you last laugh heartily? As we have no faith on ourselves this is natural that we keep faith no one. The basic human quality is amiss or getting fast amiss. If this is to happen we would starve of the spirituality and human bonding. One might deny but his/her inner self is getting hollowed for all the human stuff are getting corrupt like soft ware files in our computer. Thanks

Hello my friend Rajib Ji, I would only say, as a human beings one must behave like human beings aqnd not like beast without any sense and feelings. We all have feelings and as such we do react to each other. At present Maya-calander is worrying us. This was also made by some human beings, who are creating fears in mind of many weak persons and I am sure, as the day approaches, many may end tehmselves. In present days of 'KAL-YUGA" it is ought to happen. I believe , whatever is happening around is all natural. Nothing happens without the knowledge and permission from Almighty. So let's not worry at all. Face all challanges and do the best under prsent crises of faith and trust. May god bless You and have a great time.
