Waiting........

Are you good at waiting? I was scheduled for my exam yesterday. And I was waiting for this friend who also had the same exam center. Now he was getting REALLY late. I was impatient and stomping. I believe that I was never good at waiting, I usually go and grab a smoke if I am compelled to wait but it is a task which irritates me to the core. I wish I never had to wait for things, but one cannot help you have to wait for a lot of things in life. Are you a patient person to wait, or do you tend to be restless too? Can you wait for a person for more than an hour?

i am good at waiting.. for meetings to start. but not a single person. i give 45 minutes to 1 hour. when she/he does not come, i leave. unless there are others that i could talk to in the group and forget him/her and how irritatingly late he/she is. ann

Hi dear Ann, I could use the time to get an hour's extra sleep . But frankly speaking, dear friend, I can get restless within a coup[le of minutes. People seem to be insensible if they make others to wait for a long time. I could go to the extent and say it is a criminal offense, (pardon me for the strong language). Just wanted to make my side of the story to look stronger, hehehehehe.

Having to wait for one person for an extended period of time is very rude of that person you are waiting on. It is a waste of your time to be asked to wait on them for more than 20 minutes. That is time you could be using to get your own errands done and then be able to come back for that person at a more appropriate time. I have zero tolerance for people that are inconsiderate enough to make you wait like that for them.

I learned a long time ago to always carry something along for me to do...whether I am expecting a wait or not. I make teddy bears so I carry a zip lock bag with a little teddy bear that needs to be sewn in it. It fits in my purse so it works out well as a carry along project. I found that the doctor's offices have the most horrible selection of magazines, so I am always thankful that I have the project with me.

Wow thats an interesting way to keep oneself busy. But I need to get to know how to sew. I have never given it a try. It is indeed a way to distract yourownself from the frustrations of waiting. And yes, the magazines in the doctor's clinic are invariably worthless. Thanks for sharing.

A few years ago I nearly got arrested for being impatient while I was waiting. My Mom and I were at a grocery store with an extremely slow checker. He took fifteen minutes to do a 3 minute order. I lasted about 7 minutes when I spotted a can of Redi Whip whipped cream. I picked it up, pointed it at my Mom and stated "Your money or your life". She, of course, laughed as she had the same warped sense of humor I have. Well the checker didn't see any humor in it, especially after he hit the panic button to call the manager!!! Security and cops came flying in from everywhere and I'm standing there with a can of whipped cream LMAO!!! Funny thing from all of that, whenever we got into that checker's line after that, he would get us checked out in record time!!!!

It all depends on the person...if it's my best friend or my boyfriend I would probably wait patiently AS LONG as they called me to let me know that they are going to be late...plus I usually keep a book in my purse so I would've had something to do...but if I was just waiting endlessly and no phone call, then I would be super pissed.

Yep thats situational. People whom you love you can probably reason out with yourself that they are not making you to wait just for the fun of it. Some people do make you wait to ridicule you. It does make me insane.

I have a hard time with waiting, but I've had to learn to accept it as a regular part of my life. I have two teenagers who play sports. You never know exacactly how long their practices are going to take. Coaches just aren't that consistent. My daughter is also very sociable, so it just seems IMPOSSIBLE for her to just grab her books and GET TO THE CAR. She always seems to have to stop and talk to a few people along the way.

You are a very patient person. I think people have to learn to be patient maybe it helps in the long run. But personally speaking I hate to wait.

I am the most impatient person in the whole wide world. I just cannot wait, waiting makes me so mad. Of course there are certain situations in which you have to be patient but it still irritates me.

It depends. At times I've been told I have the "Patience of a Saint," and others I've been told that it is a virtue I lack. I find that if I am in an impatient mood, I usually pace to and fro and run my hands across the back of my neck.

Hmm to be patient it takes a lot of understanding. I can imagine the picture you describe of pacing back and forth. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely not. That is something I can't do. That person you have waited for was also being insensitive. He did not think that you have wasted your time for him. If he/she was sensitive enough then he/she could have come on time so you can have a lot of things to accomplish.

He did waste my time and you know what, When It was approaching exam time I was really getting nervous. We just made it to the exam center at the last minute. I just cannot wait for someone, maybe I need to workout this shortcoming of mine. Thank you for sharing.

i am quite an impatient person myself. i really hate waiting. but just like you i do still wait for whatever it is . sometimes i can wait for some people without much problem but there are times that i can feel the time to be so slow and i could every second that pass but there are times that an hour does not seem to be that long. i guess it depends on where or what i am waiting. there are places that i find it nice to wait and i get to enjoy the place the people that are passing. but if there are no good distractions around i could hardly wait.

I invariably get restless, friend. Whatever the place is however good distractions around if I am waiting for a person I will get restless. I feel that he or she is deliberately making me to wait. I have to wait at times in Q's or in the banks to get things moving that I do tolerate. But if I am supposed to meet someone and he makes me wait I just get so angry over it. Morever it was an exam day for both of us, and because of him I was getting late. I don't want to make it to the center at the last minute with me huffing and puffing. Then right from that moment everything goes awry. And thats what happened. Thanks for sharing mate.

I consider myself a very patient person. I too usually end up having to wait for long periods of time for just about everything so I have discovered a little method to help keep me entertained while I wait. Daydreaming. I just start daydreaming about anything and the next thing you know time has flown by and your wait is over. It works wonders for me. You should try it next time you feel restless from waiting.

Ummmm sounds interesting, but can you really hold up your frustrations? I think even if I choose to daydream I will still be coming back to the fact that someone is making me to wait, So I may not be able to properly daydream also, heheheheheee. But I may still give it a try, as per your suggestion.

I really hate waiting for someone, its really very bad feeling for me. I want my friends to be on time. But i dont now how people wait for many activities in q. Especially people who are in love that is one side love. They wait like something for the beloved to come in their life. They need to be very strong and patience. But i wait for my friends at times, I dont feel much bored if i'm waiting for someone whom i love the most.

I think it is situational. If you are waiting for your friend and he/she really has a valid reason for being late it is certainly understandable. But if it is done by this person for him being inconsiderate then it hurts. People with one sided love do wait for some miracles to happen. I don't think they are practical here. No offence. Thanks for sharing.
