MyLot's Writing Tasks

I think that MyLot should put up some INTERESTING writing tasks. Really now, who wants to write 4 paragraphs about: "Medicaid Billing," "Extended Insurences," "Ppo Plans," etc? And mind you, all of those titles came from that Task page itself. It's a little discouraging to see 15-20 writing tasks, yet not one of them about something interesting. It seems that MyLot (or whoever created these tasks) just wants us to do the advertising work for them. And look, if some people don't have a problem with that, then fine. But other people like myself would rather make money for ourselves. Since I joined MyLot, I have not once accepted a writing task, for this exact reason. Do you think MyLot should change this? Maybe add some interesting topics to write about. Like sports, or movies, or music! Think about it. If they had topics like that, wouldn't you accept more of those writing tasks? ;)

I couldn't agree more. I once took on a SEO ( search engine optimised) writing task from another site. I had to write 10 articles of 500 words about corporate giveaways like pens, keyrings, mugs, etc. I had to research the topics, then make sure I used the keywords as often as required while making it natural and integral to the article. It took me 2 days to do the articles and I was glad to see the last one, which is unusual for me, as I love my writing. I was paid $50 for the work, which is good by internet content writing standards, and it was in my Paypal account within a couple of hours of submitting the content, so nothing to complain about there. However, I certainly couldn't do it for a living. I'd prefer it if MyLot had an article section. Perhaps they could theme the content - writing, internet, relationships - and either offer a cash prize for the highest rated article each week or payment per page view. It would certainly be preferable to the tasks as they stand.

See, I respect you a lot for that. I couldn't write 10 articles in 2 days. No way. I tend to be a perfectionist and sometimes work on things a little longer than I should. So good for you. I like the cash prize idea. Maybe MyLot will see this discussion and consider some of your ideas. Hopefully.

Oh Gosh. I couldn't agree with you more. I absolutely hate those writing tasks! I mean there's only so much you can write about a specific lawn mower or a curtain.. Like seriously. I want fun tasks aswell! For me, I don't mind the sign up ones, as they are easy and you get a bit of money.

Yea, what normal person wants to write about paralegal services and stuff like that? I'm sure MyLot could balance it out, leave some of the original writing tasks but add some interesting stuff as well.

You do make a point in here, honey. I also frown when reading about their poor choices. Indeed they choose these things for their own profit and interest and I do not think that they will change it, no matter how much we complain. So my conclusion is that we should stick to just posting around and completing other type of tasks while meeting some other interesting people and not wait for much more than that. Because then you'll only be drowning yourself into frustrating illusion! Hope you stay with us for long, btw ;)

They use that content for on the site of their clients. These writings are designed to give them more traffic due to keywords. Therefore there are never any really interesting writing tasks.

Hi jeneias, If the tasks are more interesting and popular and therefore easier, I think they'd do it themselves instead of outsourcing it to us. Don't you think?

I know how you are feeling but unfortunately I do not think that it's myLot who puts up the tasks. I think that its myLotters themselves hence that's why we are a bit limited. Fortunately some of the tasks pay really well. If you manage to get a task accepted that will help your gains. Hopefully with more and more people joining myLot, we will see a greater variety of tasks.

Yea, that's another thing I disagree with. MyLot should post Tasks themselves, too, not only the members. But like you said, hopefully we'll start getting more people who are into the tasks, so they'll start making more.
