How old do you wanna go?!
I love Miles Davis, Coltrane, and all the modern jazz giants. I also like US3 - they mixed up jazz with hip-hop/funk. Well cool. As for Queen Latifah .... wow. I keep closing my eyes and wishing: "Queenie on the BBC big band program - now!"
I love any band that plays its own music, rather than tacky recorded-over samples. Dur ... I got a one note voice so I got no choice but to rap over something decent ... (bass riff here)

I used to really enjoy REO Speedwagon, Styx, Chicago, Mickey Gilley (so I was told lol),Peter Paul & Mary, The Moody Blues. (Im only 30 I swear!) .. but nowaday....
Mischief Brew, Green Day, Dave Matthews, Citizen Cope, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Mat Kearney.. that I listen to regularly anyway... Unfortunately I can't really explain why I enjoy most of them. I like Mischief Brew primarily because his lyrics talk about socio-political issues, but the songs have great beats and are generally fast paced.

I am glad the old bands, like the Beatles, Bee Gees, ABBA, The Police, Deep Purple, Queen, Bob Marley, etc.. Old music more comfortable I am listened to by people as old as me.

I'll take the older bands of the 80s anyday!! My all time favorite band is BON JOVI!!!! I have been a fan of theirs since they first started, and I am still a die hard fan of their music! It seems to me the older bands just seem to be better song stylists. Any other Bon Jovi fans care to agree with me?
