I was up at our camper last night to spend a bit of time with my son and his family. It got very chilly so we had a campfire.....it was so nice to hear the crackling fire....sitting out under the stars....there was nothing quite like it! Have you gotten the chance to sit out and enjoy a campfire?

It's been a couple of years since I've lost done it, but this is something that I've always loved. The last time I did the campfire thing, I was in a large group of strangers with one friend, as they were making camp for a war re-enactment. It was really a good time... using tin lanterns, singing and laughing, putting on a roast, as well as some of us singing. And of course, spirits and moonshine in clay pots :P

I did get a chance to spend some time out in the night with a burning fire this summer. I always enjoy it. Just to stand around and talk, and tell stories. It seems like even if you have known each other for a long time, you come up with stories that the other has never heard.
And if you are with some family that you have seen in a while, it is nice to reminisce about things that happened when you were younger. Thanks for reminding me of these nice campfires jill hill, and have a great day!

I've been around campfire's before but I don't always have the chance to sit out beside one. I think they're fun and definite nice changes of pace. Sometimes I feel like there is nothing better than sitting out underneath the stars and getting a bit closer to nature. It's fun and I think it's relaxing.

I absolutely do love sitting at a camp fire. Have you tried those little packages you can buy at the dollar store, you just throw the whole package in the fire and watch the beautiful colors.

I love to do this before, because many times, we have been to a youth Cristian camp, we enjoy sitting around a camp fire, when the night are there to guide us, even when we are playing and sharing to each other before we go to sleep, we will take first the bone fire, so that our feeling was very happy and comfortable.

A few years a go I went to an outside party with a musician friend of mine and near the end of the night we all sat around a bit fire set in a couple of steel type rims from truck tyres, a couple of the guys picked up their guitars and sang some of their old songs, it was so nice, it was a beautiful night...

It is now a few years since I've enjoyed the pleasures of a camp fire. I have been involved in children's and youth ministry for about 40 years and in that time have been involved in planning camps for the clubs, with up to 50 children or 40 teens. We always had a campfire on the final night in camp and it was a highlight for many.
The atmosphere around the campfire as we sang, toasted marshmallows and enjoyed a great time, was usually wound up with various campers telling of the highlights, sharing what they had learned, and thanking the leaders.
Because of dry conditions, bush fire dangers and fire-bans, and because of insurance stipulations, we haven't been able to have campfires for a number of years. Pity.

Love, love, love, absolutely love campfires!
Did I say I loved campfires?, lol! I haven't done it lately but when my daughter is going to have her Halloween party and I know there will be one going and I can't wait. That was one of my favorite parts of camping, along with looking at the deep blue sky and millions of stars, which you don't see in the city. Oh how I miss it.
I think I might just turn on my fake fireplace tonight and roast marshmallows.

I am taking my son camping this weekend. We are going out to the country and sleeping in a tent. It'll be nice to get away. I plan on having it all. Campfire, smores, hot dogs. Some friends of ours are coming too. They are bringing snacks and a pie iron to make pies in the fire.
I haven't been camping in so long. I used to all the time. I am very excited. My son is excited too.
I told him as soon as we get there, we will put the tent up, then look for sticks to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Then we will build the fire.
Hopefully it won't get too cold. We are bringing plenty of blankets and warm clothing.

Yes I enjoy sitting around a campfire. It has been years since I have had a chance to do so. I do truly miss sitting around a campfire. I love it when friends get their guitars out and sing.

i have an experience near to that of a camp fire but exactly we cannot say it a camp fire bcoz there was no camp and only us.
It was when once a very cold month was on its peak, its the coldest month i have ever seen. we were finding wood to light fire, we finished all the wood of our house and then the tables and chairs were burnt to save us from the cold.
we were finding wood in house and taking things made of wood then we made fire and the feeling was same as that of camp fire. we were sitting all around the fire, shivering ..the whole day near the fire.

I haven't been near a campfire since I was a girl scout.I had fun then and I think I would still enjoy it now. But this time I want to be sitting with my guy.

Hi there jillhill
I took my boys about 3 weeks ago now for a weekend. There were a load of us from my kids school and their parents. We did it last year at the same place too and it was so much fun. I am the only single parent there but everyone all chips in and helps everyone and I am never made to feel like an outsider or the odd one out. The kids got to cook dampa bread and melt marshmellows on the fire during the day and the adults got to sit around, chat and drink in the night time. Great!!
