How to keep children happy?

Everyone of us want to keep our children happy. This is because of the fact that all of we love our children a lot. What we usually do is buy them their demands like toys, chocolates, etc. As a result they get demanding everyday. Sometimes we take them to the outdoors like parks, pools, etc. But, is there any other way too to keep them happy?

children are children and all they care about is to sleep, eat and play. let them do what they want as long as these are within tolerable limits.
as early as possible, train them to understand that not everything they want are easily available to them. sometimes, we just have to say "no" to some of these demands.
let them feel that they are loved. even as infants, they already can feel ur love by ur touch. even animals respond to our touches.
hug ur children as much as u can, everything u do to make them feel loved.. they will grow as loving persons because they grow up in a world full of love.
they will be happy with a happy surrounding at home.

Thanks for your valued response. I think I could make the childrens happy by the ways you had mentioned in this discussion. Although we practice lots of thing you mentioned here, we don't realize that we are doing so to make the child happy at the time when we have to speak about them.
