What Cooking Mistakes Have Turned Out Delicious??

I cook up an awesome batch of French fries. All the neighborhood kids come by and grab a plate. I usually feed around 7 boys and their girlfriends (if they have one). Apparently, the fresh Canola oil makes the difference as well as cutting the potato thin and long. A few days ago I did not use new oil. Worse . . . it was oil that we used for Pisang Goreng (fried banana fritters). The fries came out limp and had a hint of banana taste. Weird to say, the kids loved them and so did I. Have you ever had a cooking disaster which wound up tasting pretty good?

Hello,
this just like what happened to my cooking last time. I was cooking this asian food, called stir fried ginger with beef. I was cooking this ginger first to reduce the spicy and then my kids was calling me, so I went to help her and forgot to reduce the heat. when I came back, it over burned. however, that was the only ginger I had that day... so I decided to continue cooking with those over burned ginger. My husband came and he saw it, he was like what in the world you name that food? i lied to him that how a new style of my cooking and It taste great if u dont believe me. so he tried, he said "wow!! this is good. I love it." I was, whooo.... almost got me. lolz.

I love it! It might just be that some of our best recipes came from "burnt" food. Well done!

Hello my friend gtargirl Ji,
I have many times experienced that while cooking, if it is little over-cooked (not to extent of burning), it gives crisp an dbetter taste to many, specially to my hubby. So everytime my mistake is appriciated. Nothing is wasted.
May god bless You and have a great time.

Canola Oil is the oil I use 99% of the time. My husband rather have homemade fries then any store bought or fast food ones..but only time I ever cooked two different things is when I deep fried the chicken and then made fries..I have rolled the fries in the chicken coating and fried them..people seemed to like it..

The very first cooking mistake I ever made was with my easy bake oven when I was about 10. My cousin and I decided to mix all the packets of different types of cake and cookie mixes together in one batch. What came out was a toffee like candy and it was great!

That is a fascinating result. Yep, I had quite a few of that case also. It was unbelievable that something so wrong can turn out to something you can be proud of. I was able to turn a paksiw na bangus (because a guest came and I forgot that I'm actually cooking) into a half fried fish with an experimented sauce. My husband love it and so are my friends!

One day i was preparing to make Poori. But unfortuantely the poori didn't come nicely. What i did , i mixed the dough with palin atta (maita),egg and sugar.
I made the cakes in a cube shape and fried in the oil. That snake came in to crispy and tasty. I distribute to my neighbours and they said it is very taste and enjoyed alot. This is was one of my story.

I have kind of had a problem like that before. I did not have any vegetable oil to use when I cooked fries one time. I wanted some really bad. I cooked them in butter and they were awesome but so dang fattening.

Nothing comes to mind at the moment, although I am sure it has happened. I have started cooking something before only to find I did not have a certain ingredient that I thought I had so I ended up having to change dishes midway through and make something completley different. I did that last week, I ended up making angel hair pasta with shrimp and white cream sacue. It was actually really good. Everyone liked it.
