Article or Blog or What

Article - Article, kinda like the one I want to write but not exactly.

I want to start promoting Mylot and my website and a few other good sites with one of those articles that I keep seeing everywhere. One you get paid to write. Or is it a blog that I keep seeing? One you get paid to write? How does that work? Can anybody give me an idea where to start or point me in the right direction please?
