Do you get upset about growing old?

Growing old is a thought that most people dreadfully anticipate. They do everything just to stay and look young and healthy. I don't know how many people who would happily embrace the "growing old" stage and live as happy as they were before. Honestly, I don't really like the idea of growing old. Especially the thought of perhaps living alone or incapable of doing even the simplest things that I'm being used. But there's one quote that my sister gave it to me it goes " We cannot avoid growing old but we can avoid growing cold". How about you, do you complained about growing old? Do you like the thought of it?

I have never given much thought about growing old. Whenever I do, I do not feel upset about it. Growing old is part of life. The more a person thinks about it, the greater the chances of fears becoming true, sort of a self fulfilling prophesy. For example loss of memory is associated with old age. A person who accepts this as applicable to everyone will probably not do anything about it. In addition exercising to increase blood flow to the brain, is seen as not for the elderly. In essence we should do things as usual, instead of giving old age as an excuse.

Yeah, your right. Growing old should not be an excuse to give up on life. We should maintained doing those usual things as the saying goes " an idle mind is a devils workshop". But there's some factors that would lose the vitality of life, like those older people who was left forgotten by their family or loves ones. It's hard for them to keep life fresh and alive. The dreadful thing of growing old is being left alone. Thanks for sharing with us and have a great day!

Yeah, its inevitable that we surely get upset every time we don't see the same image on the mirror. My mom always complained about her looks. She felt that each day she's becoming ugly.I often comfort her, and reminds her that she's still the same prettiest mom in the whole wide world.LOL Thanks for sharing with us and have a great day!

While I know I am still young, I am turning 30 in a few months and very depressed about it. I take decent care of myself and think I still look young for my age, but it's such a milestone in a woman's life. Many people I know (friends, family, co-workers, etc) tell me they didn't get depressed turning 30, but that 40 was hard for them. I am seeing small wrinkles around my eyes and am not looking forward to growing old. I put moisturizer on and watch going out in the sun, but aging is inevitable, and there isn't much I can do to change anything (aside from taking good care of myself).

It's hard to accept changes. Much harder when it comes to physical aspects in life. The skin aging is one of the major concern about growing old. When you look at the mirror and you don't appreciate the image that you see. The difficult part is acceptance but when get through with it, then you could live a happy old life. Yeah you're right the best thing that we can do is to take good care of our self, because this will matter when get into older days. Thanks for sharing with us and have a great day!

What is worse is growing old in mind. Keep the mind green and fresh and wrinkles will keep away much longer than usual.

Hi there. I don't really like to be old but i guess i don't have to worry about it. Other persons would like to have a long life but not me. Its enough that i came to live in this world and i don't expect to be here after 25 years or so. I guess, my life is not that good or bad but still i just want to live as long as i can.

When ever i look up into my old picture but my younger self, i would feel upset because i never knew i had that kind of face before and it makes me feel sad and upset that i can never go back to that kind of good old looking face. I agree we can't avoid Physically growing old mentally we can stay young at heart. well, am not that average when it comes to weight but it was way better years ago.

Growing old upset me and made me happy at the same time.I don't like to grow old,and I am eager to stay young forever.I will always cherish the memory of my blithe childhood when I am no longer a child forever.I want to go back to the palying time with my little boy friends without thinking anything.I tried to let myself know I was still young but I couldn't,so I came to realize I must become stronger, and I also found something new being a grown-up.I can do whatever I want to do,I have more friends than before,I can join some clubs that I can't when I was a boy,I can make money by myself... Frankly,if there only two choice here, staying young or growing up as usual,I think I may choose the first.Compared with the complicated adult society, childhood gives us much more happiness, and happiness is the more important than any other thing,I think. beeduzhe

Hello beeduzhe Yeah, I absolutely agree with you. You know when I was kid, I really envy older people. Because they can choose what they want, they have lots of money and can buy everything that they fancy. But now that I'm older, How much I wish I could go back those happy go lucky days, no worries, complications, and responsibilities. That's why I often told to my nephews and nieces to enjoy and appreciate the life that they have, and never hurry to grow up. Anyways thanks for sharing with us and have a great day!

I don't think anyone likes the thought of growing old. I am getting old, I am almost 50 now and I really am not bothered by it EXCEPT I have bad health problems and that is what I don't like at all! The growing old part still surprises me seometimes because in my mind, I don't feel like I'm almost 50. I ask myself, "when did that happen?" LOL

Yes, honestly very scared to grow old you even know my age 19 years and I am very scared because next year I was 20 years old that means "head" 1 has ended. I am very afraid of my young charms fade and grow old and wrinkled is not useful and can not do anything by himself. Such things are often bugs me, though like you said that human beings can not avoid aging. But then I thought if you can not escape so I must prepare myself for the elderly. I started by eating healthy foods later in the day so that parents can not easily infected by disease, I am also so often exercised to avoid an oldness in old age that I still can do something by myselves, can survive without having to depend on other people. That way I was ready to become parents each year. hahaha
