A career that matches your degree or a career that matches your personality?

Which job will you prefer be doing? Is it something that matches your education in college or rather something that suits your personality? Most people enjoy doing what they like most, and I think that this could also be a good strategy in looking for a job.

How about getting a degree that matches my personality so that I can follow a career in that field and hopefully enjoy and endure success as a result? :P

That's a good idea for those who are just on their way of getting a degree. Carefully choose the degree that you are going to pursue. Choose something that best fits your personality as well as your interest. In that way, career will both fit your degree and your personality. But how about those who are already finished? Those who took a degree that didn't match their personality. I think the question is more likely for them.

Yes! That's more appropriate zoey! Thinking the other way around. Get a degree that you like to be in the future and for sure you will enjoy having a job related to your course. That's how everyone should think! Ciao!

So better choose wisely. Think of the course that you really want. Be sure of what you really like. In that way you'll surely have no regrets in the future.

I think you will be much happier in a job that matches your personality rather than one that matches your degree. In a perfect world it would match both. To commit at least 40 hours a week and have it be something that doesn't mesh well with you could be very grating on your nerves and overall well being.

Yes, I agree. How I wish there could be a perfect world so that both would match. =)

Hi mylotters, i want to discuss this topic hope it can help me , Yesterday September 8,2009 i went to one of the agency here in our place for i was informed that they're hiring of teachers for Canada. I submitted all the requirements but after thorough evaluating my credentials, it was found out that my qualification is for an office secretary instead of teaching position. I said how come with all the qualification i have presented the very end was falling to be a secretary. Anyway I was also welcome and thankful to it for the reason that i could go and work abroad after all. Besides my work experience aside of being a teacher was also a Bookkeeper and recently appointed as Secretary but i am an education graduate with Masteral Units. That was the reason why i was evaluated since i was a full time in the office and teaching is only a part time job.So for me if u ask i prefer to be a Secretary rather than to be a teacher coz i am used and expert to this work though i can teach well since i undergone training related to my teaching profession. So for you do you think this work is fitted for me just to fulfill my desire to work abroad ? What can u say. Happy mylotting. God Bless To all.

I am also an Education graduate and currently pursuing a Masters Degree. Like you, I can also teach well but I am not yet teaching because I cannot yet feel the passion in it. With regards to your question on whether the work as a secretary is fitted for you just to fulfill your desire even if it is not in line with your degree as a teacher, I think that it is okay to do the job since as you have said, you are expert to the work and at the same time it can fulfill your desire. What matters most is the fulfillment that you are going to have in doing the said job.
