Christmas is just around the corner and to some it can only mean one thing, it's also the season for spending. People are probably saving up and preparing for that proverbial and inevitable gift giving. Come to think of it, is christmas really that commercialized, has it really lost it's meaning like spending time with your loved ones or your family? In my opinion, christmas should be the season of giving, that is, giving to those that are less fortunate, after all christmas comes only once a year. So give, it's good for your soul.

I have had some Christmases were we got many gifts but those times are gone the last time we had one of those times I think it has been 7 or more years ago and before that we did not always have a lot of gifts but maybe more than now. Now in Christmas I don’t get might kids toys well to my 11 year old I rather get her something she might use or wear and for my 1 year old this year is going to be his first Christmas were he is walking so maybe I would get him one toy so he can open it. For my family member or husband I don’t think I would get anything but I do try to make a good diner for everyone that day so we can be together. Because even a dinner is expensive to make now since we don’t have much to spent. But I hope that it gets better soon so we wont be so stressed and depressed especially the kids.

I totally love Christmas, everything about it; the sights, the sounds, the colors, the gifts, the trees, the decorations, everything!! I don't give a lot of gifts nor are they super expensive because I just don't have much money. So what I do for Christmas is to try to give the people I care about something thoughtful, something they like or collect, something that I am sure they will enjoy. Oh sure, Christmas has been commercialized but you don't have to buy into all that. It's still a great time for family and love and peace on earth. I love it and I am looking forward to it.

In the economy that we live in, I'm hoping that people have a bit of common sense this year.Christmas is very commercialized and people feel as if they have to spend money to make Christmas Christmas. I think we've lost the true meaning of Christmas but hey what can you do?

It is nice to hear that people started thiking about Christmas. I started thinking about Christmas because my husband is coming down from America to India to celebrate Christmas with me. So, I started making plans. I need to book tickets for going for trips and plan about booking hotels. I am so excited. Good discussion.

Hello Nelbum, Yeah, Christmas is real soon. August has left and now is early September. For me, Christmas is not so important to me. None of my close family members are Christmas. So we don't celebrate Christmas in any church. But we do gift giving.some times we will go for a Christmas buffet at hotels. In fact, that is just a reunion and gathering with family members. I have only a few of my friends are Christian and they celebrate Christmas every year.

Christmas is also where you recollect everything that happened this year. Also, time for reunions and reconnecting to your family, friends and self. Sometimes throughout the year because of so many things at hand, we tend to forget to reconnect to ourselves and importantly to GOD

Our family loves Christmas. We all get to spend time together and we get to see our non-immediate family that we rarely get to see, which is quite a gift for us. Yes, we do the gift giving that everyone does and I've been shopping for this coming Christmas since the day after last Christmas. Another tradition that has become very important for our Christmas is the act of giving to those that are far less fortunate than we are. Every year before Christmas I have my daughter choose some toys that she's outgrown to donate to Salvation Army. Additionally, our playgroup does a Christmas service project where we all buy some small gifts for the women and children that are in a local shelter for battered women. We take the gifts along with snacks for these people and help them to have a glimmer of hope for Christmas.

christmas is very near to come. I use to go to church. I go to the church mid night and go the mass. I celebrate with the great manner. Christmas is the holy festival for the christians. it is obvious to celebrate with my loved family. I cut the cake and enjoy with the drinking. I prefer to have non - veg and with my friends and go my all my relative house.

Sometimes Christmas is the only reason why the family sees each other because of there busy lives. its sad to say that some of us only visits our family during christmas.

It doesn't seem to matter how much money I save or how soon I start my Christmas shopping. I will still be shopping until the week before Christmas. I guess i think I didn't have enough bought for someone, oe something catches my eye that I just have to buy for someone. It never seems to end.
