Hello people,
Good day to you all. Do you have the habit of reading the Scriptures daily? Do you really feel the verse while reading and take it by heart?
Whats your favorite verse in the Bible and why you consider it as the the best one for you? I do read the Bible daily and my favorite verse is Psalms 23:4. Because, it is the verse God spoke to me when I was sick without anyone's help.
It is the verse that can make any troubled situation into a happy moment with the feel of 'God with us'.
Share with me the favorite verse for you in the bible and do let me know why?
Cheers.... God Bless You....

It's John 3:16 for me. I always found it a comfort to think that God loved me like that, that he would send his son to save me. It's one of the few verses that I can remember by heart actually. Oh sure, I can remember Jesus wept, the shortest verse in the Bible (though not where it is located!) but John 3:16, that one I can quote.

That is a beautiful verse! There is a sign that is tacked to a post on a country highway that leads to our house... I've seen it several times, and though I know I should have known what it was about, I had to come home one day and look it up! Silly me, eh? Yes that verse is very beautiful indeed.
I am not sure where the verse Jesus Wept, is either.

Dear horsesrule,
I do agree that it is a wonderful verse that all Christians must know.
Jesus wept... It is in John 11:35. Of coarse the shortest and a great verse which really depicts the lovable heart of Jesus to us.
Thanks for your response.. Cheers... Have a nice day always...

Hi phillip_shiny
Honestly, I don't have habit to read bible daily. Sometimes I feel bored and sleepy,,hehe.. but I know some good verse from novel. I don't know exactly the location, but the verse sounds like this "Knock, and the door will open. Search, and you will find..." I love that verse! It bring me hope to reach my dream Everytime I feel down or hopeless, I will remember this verse and it bring me hope and strength again, as if I continue search, definitely I will get it!
Waw..you have such a good habit, reading bible everyday..

I must admit that sometimes when I found a verse that really touch me or my real problem, it really helps me and makes me hope again, cheers up my day.. maybe I need to start from first again. Thanks for your kind suggestion, phillip But, where I must start from? From the first page until the last? How to read bible effectively?

Start from Mathew and finish it with Revelation. Then start from genesis and then read on. Read Psalms and proverbs daily in addition to this... Atleast spend some half an hour for this in the midst of your busy schedule everyday.

Dear ChrysanTflower,
Nice to hear from you... Reading the Bible daily gives us energy for our soul and spirit as food gives energy to our body. My kind suggestion to you as a friend is not to quit a single day Bible reading. It has everything for a human being to live peacefully in this world.
And your favorite verse is in Luke 11:9...
Cheers... God Bless you...

Hi cher913,
Nice to have your response with your favorite verse. It's really a thoughtful verse that we must not lean on our understanding without trusting God.
Why don't you share the reason for this verse as a favorite one to you?
Cheers... Have a nice day always...

I am not in the habit of reading the bible though I know that both my fiance and I should become more habitual to doing this. I would like to say we will as soon as we get settled with a routine but even that is no excuse!
In any case, my favorite verse...
Proverbs 31 Verse 27 as follows :
27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
To me this is whom I want to be... a wife who takes care of the household and her husband and their offspring... it warms my heart to think of it, and though I know I have hard work ahead of me I can do all things through christ who strengthens me!

Dear SomeCowgirl,
Thats really awesome. I too love the verse. In some other meaning, it also determines the church before Jesus Christ. Because the church becomes the bride to our Lord and Saviour Jesus. Hope you agree this huh?
But literally what you said is true and prefect. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day always..

I have heard of it's interpretation being as such or similar. I may be thinking of another verse, though I am not sure! It's nice to read the bible and all the stories it unfolds!

I love all of Proverbs 31, its known as the chapter that describes the "Virtous Woman". If every woman/wife tried to live by those standards or close to them, then there would be a lot more happy relationships! Its a great part of the bible to live by! Have a Blessed Day. Oh and by the way, there's never going to be a easy time to try to read the bible. You just have to decide to make the time. The "devil" or enemy whichever you perfer, does want anyone ot learn the truth or know the word, so he will ditract you and try to cause you to make excuses not to read it. I think you should just do it and stop making a plan on when to start or when to do it!

Hi Phillip,
The well known verse is John 3:16.
My favourite is :
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God,
and all these things will be added unto you.
Ask and it shall be given unto
Knock and it shall be open unto you.
Why : It is God promise that God will answer our prayer
if we seek Him first,
if We ask from Him
and if we are persistent in our prayer, the door will open for us.
God Bless You :)

Dear Iriene88,
What you said is the awesome response I have had. I am really learning here.
Seek, ask and be persistent in our prayer gets the reward for the prayer. I am lacking this persistence often. I would ask but I don't wait and also don't seek him continuously...
Well said Iriene. Thanks for putting this thought here.
Cheers... Have a nice day always.. God Bless you

Dear Chrys,
I am glad we share the same favourite Bible verses.
There is a song / hymn that have the whole verses
in it. It is my favourite song too.
I learn this song for nearly 21 years already.
If I am alone in the car, I will sing it...
It is so beautiful and so meaningful, full of hope!
Thanks and God Bless You.

Hi Iriene88
At first, I didn't realize it, but after I scroll up, I found that you have the same favorite verse with me That phrase is the one that give us all hope and beliefs in our pray, and not give up easily! Once I feel very hopeless, seems like my dream so far to reach and what I do not bring me closer to my dream. Then I remember this phrase, it cheers up my days again!
God Bless You too :D

My favorite verse was from Psalms 37:4. I really love this verse. This had been my favorite verse since I was on my college years. It had been my principle in everyday life and it had helped me in my spiritual Christian walk. And until now, it is still my favorite verse and I always think of this verse at all times to make me feel even more burning and have that zeal in serving God.

My favorite verse is: Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." It is very comforting to me to know that no matter what I might be going through at any time He has plans for me and will never hurt me but instead will be there for me always. All any of us has to do is call on His name and He is there. I just heard an excellant teaching tonight reminding all of us that success begins with dependency on God. Turn to Him always and develop an intimate relationship with Him so He will be with you always.

Hello phillip_shiny. You have found a great topic to discuss. I've been trying to read the Bible chapter by chapter but never get to do it completely. What a conincidence it is that my favorite verse of the Bible is also Psalm 23.4 "..the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want..." I've loved it since from my young days and I find it so inspirational even now. Isn't it so true when you can say "I will fear no evil, for you are with me..." Bless you too.

I have always liked and still like John 3:16. It gives me hope. It is the one verse that just about everyone knows. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. He gave up something so we could live. Boy doesn't that just tug at you.

There are many verses in the bible that are my favorites but the most favorite, i thik is on Matthew 11:28-30: "Come to Me all of you who are weary and heavily laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." These verses really comfort my soul whenever I am in the midst of many problems and trials in life. When I had first read these verses it struck me and I even wept at that time.

Hello
I too read the bible everyday. I do a daily devotion out of two different books. My favorite verse.... well there is too many to write. I would say that my signiture verse (the one I try to live by) would be 2 Corinthians 5:17, its the one that talks about being a "New Creation" in christ. I like it because it reminds us that we are forgiven and made new, we have a clean slate. All our prior sins have been cleansed and we can move on from that life. Many people have very inspirational testimonies and many people look to live my that verse as I do. Another favorite would be Psalm 34:8. That one says: "Taste and See that the Lord he is Good, Blessed is man that TRUSTS in him!" Its is teaching us that if we trust in him, completely whole heartedly that he will in turn bless us. God's Blessings are so sweet and they come just at the time we need them. ok and the last one I will mention is Ephesians 2:8 it says that is is by GRACE, through FAITH that we are saved NOT by ourselves or our works! It is a gift from God to us. That is the most precious gift we can ever recieve. Thank you God.
Great Discussion. Have A Blessed Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, SomeCowgirl, I love your reply from Proverbs 31, me too! In fact I think I should stick that one on my fridge! Beautifully put in your explanation too, thank you.
I have so many, I have been a Christian since I was quite young and you know how along the way you pickup those verses that come with experiences and you never forget them...
I think I would have to say the whole of Psalm 139, if I must choose one! I had to give my testimony at church on Sunday and I came back to this Psalm about four times in what I said without planning to!
It ties in with my personal story so much though. It says God knit us together in our mothers womb and that all of our days were known to him before one of them came to be - I am adopted and to me that means I was not a mistake, God planned for me to be born.
It says even if I dwell on the far side of the sea, even there His hand will guide me, and hold me fast - I moved from England to America to get married and I struggle a lot with homesickness. But God is with me here on the 'far side of the sea!'
Psalm 139 v 14 says I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I grew up believing I was nothing -that I was not worth loving and therefore God could not love me either. From the ages of 17 to 27 I had bulimia and was filled with self hatred. My recovery began with learning to see myself as God sees me. A few years ago I couldn't even say that verse out loud.
So, you see I couldn't choose just ONE verse out of my Psalm!!

I am touched by your response. In fact my favorite is too Psalms 139... I love it and read it most of the times. He is always with us and He never leaves us alone. I too had some health problems and doctors said 'how you are surviving now' when I first visited the doctor for my trouble. They can't identify what was the exact cause that makes the trouble in my body but I believe God knows and He heals me.
I love Him more than anyone in the world...
Cheers... have a blessed day...

For em there are so many good verses that I would have hard time picking a favorite. What works for me are the ones that are relevant to what i am going through at the time I read them. I don't think people realize there are so many verses that are still relevant to our everyday life. My husband who has a great memory, has practically memorized the whole bible (yes, you read the right)and I sometimes go to him to help me find verses to help me in the moment. It is awesome what we are able to find that I had no idea was in there.

I read the Bible almost every day, though I do have some trouble memorizing verses. My favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 3:11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what He has done from beginning to end." This verse come after the famous "a time for this... and a time for that..." passage. It's my favorite Bible verse because it's a reminder that God has written a beautiful story, even though sometimes we can't see it.

thanks for this discussion. I may not be able to give you specific verse in the bible but i am interested to share this to you the golden rule in every bible whatever your religion. Yes i graduated in a religious school but after that i forgot the readings in the bible. but the golden rule is always in my heart. "Do unto others what you would have others do unto you." For me this is a very touching, inspiring passage so simple but full of life. Im proud to tell you this wherever i go whatever i do i always make this passage my inspirations. they give me much strength to go on with my life. With the challenges ive been with i stick to that rules frankly i always win the battle. but winning does not always mean you defeat your opponent but what i mean you were able to have peace of mind the way things went through.
god bless and more power
