To many people especially the chinese, number '8' is an auspicious number that brings lots of good luck and good fengshui. Here in mylot the number '8' is a number which is placed in high esteem as it is the number with the royal yellow color. The color of the royalties. I have been in possession of that number for a long time here in mylot before it changed to no. 9 which I think doesn't have much life in me. Not as good as the number 8. I have noticed our friends here are also changing their avatars to the popular yellow emoticons and looks like the trend setter Diana has reasons why she chose this yellow emoticons. In every discussion that I attend to there is sure one or two yellow emoticons gracing the page. Now many seems to be going for this yellow guy, but why?

Hi zands, I am not so attached to the god and bad of the number. For me all are same. Still I prefer no 7 without any specific cause. And as TS Eliot had described in his poem yellow is the color of disease. And this colour is to be discarded. Personally I too do not like this colour , I mean yellow.

I don't put too much emphasis on luck in numbers as it might just be coincidence which happen a lot of times in life. But personally, of all colors yellow just doesn't attract my eyes when it comes to buying clothings. Red and black are my favorite colors. Yellow doesn't find its place in my wardrobe.

So we both share one thing is that we discard the color yellow.

Well the numbers on the left hand side that you are talking about are based on your rating here as a whole at mylot. I think I am at an 8 and have been for a long time. I do not take much into numbers but I have been intrested in learning more about fen shug but know very little about the subject. If you know more about it please share with me I would be greatful. I will add you as a friend if we are not already which I think we are and maybe we can teach other something. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

You are right. That is the rating we get from friends. I am not too good on fengshui and is also learning from friends.

Personally, I like my star the way it is. Since the number and the color reflect our approval rating among our peers I am very gratified that mine is where it is. I have never been a follower of fengshui. In my culture the color purple is the color associated with royalty. That doesn't sway me too much either since we don't have royals in America. As far as the avatar situation I really wish everyone would settle on one avatar then leave it alone. It gets very confusing when friends change all the time. I had a hard enough time choosing my avatar and then had to get help from a member here to get it working right. I don't ever think I will be changing it.

What does it benefit to be slotted in the digest? I wonder. I have been there countless times but I am still where I am. Nothing added to my cap.

Your avatar has become your trademark but I always itch to get mine changed according to changes in my surroundings or grown out of the same picture. Surely you have no complain of your star rating as you have reached the maximum allowed.

Nope, no complaints on that score. I would like to see one of my discussions end up in the digest but that hasn't happened yet. Oh well at least I have something to strive for. Goals keep us doing our best.

I don't know. i have no particular knowledge on numerology but i have favoritism on numbers that i used. and most of them are nine, ten, eleven and twelve. i don't know why but i like those numbers, which i love being on the 10th reputation now that we called the blue star. i feel luck having a blue star which is number ten.

I don't know about the number 8 in mylot. But in chinese cultures, the sound of the number in most dialects sounds like "getting rich". That is why it is so popular compared to the other numbers. As for fengshui, I only know that the number 8 has got something to do with the number of directions to follow when interpreting the auspiciousness of a place. Hmm... I do not quite understand much of the second half of your discussion. Can you explain it a little more to me? What do you mean by Diana tagged the number 8 with yellow? And what has the emoticons got to do with the 8 or the yellow?

hi zandi458 I hadnt thought of 8 as being lucky or not but'I seem to be stuck with it now. I once, sob sob, had a ten and a troll with a sturdy finger deleted me in one night down to a 5, well I was very upset and told mylot admins. so they did catch the troll and he was tossed out on his keaster but they only put me back up to an 8.maybe it will bring me luck , as who knows more than I how much luck I could use. as for yellow emoticons it is just a fun way to add how much you are feeling a certain way.YOu have been here as long or longer than I havent you. I really dont mind my yellow eight so maybe it has some lucky qualities after all.

Hi Hatley, yes, I have joined mylot few months after it was formed. More or less being a pioneer here I have been tossed around at all levels from 8 to 10 and down again to 9. I have been stagnant in 8 for two solid years and only recently that I have been ushered to 9. I have no complain and grateful that I didn't slip further down the ladder. We have no choice but to agree where ever we are placed as this rating system is faulty and we are always at the mercy of others to volley us by indiscriminately rating negatively. If only the admin do their homework and check on their loyal members who have stayed here through thick and thin, they will definitely see that there is more in us than modesty permits in our star ratings.

well, here in USA i think most people believe # 7 to be lucky, as so many times its mentioned in the (our)Bible that most people know about although we have many more mixed belief here. I myself should like the # 8 since its my BD month and my moms and 2 of my kids. as far as yellow. i like yellow, but i like the english royale colors even more. purple and red. my favorite

I am no expert at numerology but I have heard that number 8 is not lucky so I am surprised to hear the opposite. I don’t pay particular attention to numbers and their meaning although my favourite number has always being number 6 ever since I was a kid. I hope it has nothing to 666! (LOL) I like the yellow emoticons they are cheerful looking even the ones with a sad face; I like them...

Nope, the number 8 means nothing to me. Don't get me wrong, its a perfectly good number - attractive, that nice hourglass figure, sits there snugly between seven and nine....yes, theres a lot to be said for eight..... But as for having any great meaning...NAH. Now 10 - theres a number....the number of payout!...lol

Not to me. My birthday falls on the 8th day of a month but I don't consider it to be auspicious. I guess it's based on your beliefs and whether you believe in superstition.

Actually I heard that the number seven is a good number and that the color purple is the royal color. I guess it depends on what kind of culture you grew up in. And in Asian culture 8 is a very lucky number. I don't know about the color red, since as far as I know, Chinese like the color red. Since it is bright and it signifies new life, happiness, and prosperity.

Hey zandi! I don't really have an affinity for the number 8! It's a nice respectable number, but it doesn't have any special meaning to me. As for the color yellow, it is a happy color! It is the color of the sun and it it brings warmth and joy into the world! At least that's what I think yellow means! I guess that's why all the emoticons with the smiley faces are yellow because they are usually the happy ones! So yellow, I think means "happiness"!
