No, and not yet but I experienced being in a hospital. When my youngest sister hospitalized because of the fracture of her arm when she is 4 yrs. old we stayed there for 2 nights. I hate the smell of the hospital but the nurses there are very polite and they like my sister a lot. My mother told us that the nurses are generous to my sisters sometimes they gave her chocolates or anything she likes to pacify her. My mother was also hospitalized for 4 days due to her menopausal I don't have a chance to stayed with her but her sister and her nieces does.

Hi rupesh, How is your cousin now. Wishing him a speedy recovery. I never had been hospitalized due to health problems. I admitted in hospital twice that is for the delivery of my sons. I had health problems but never serious. My hubby had been hospitalized two times due to minor accidents. Once his leg fractured and get operated for that. It is not all good to be in hospital in any circumstances.

I've been hospitalized 4 times. Don't think that's a bad record for 70+ years, especially since 2 of them were for childbirth. Like you, I found some of the nurses to be wonderful and some not so. The biggest difference that I found was the difference between the civilian and military hospitals. My first child was born in a civilian hospital. The care was great. I really felt pampered. For our second child, I used the military doctors and used the military hospital for the delivery. I never saw the same doctor twice, not even for the actual delivery. The biggest surprise came the next day when a nurse came to my bed, handed me a set of sheets, and told me to get up and make my bed. That may or may not be the way things are at a military hospital now, as the incident was 45 years ago.

Yes, things are different now. The old hospital (a historical landmark) has been turned into office s pace and a new, much larger hospital built. There are no more wards. A good share of both doctors and nurses are civilians who do not keep their jobs if they do not get good reviews. Regarding having to get up and make my bed the next day after giving birth, that was the military way at the time.

I think this was bad for the nurse to tell you to make your own bed. Or, is this the way it is in a military hospital, anyway? I bet you didn't feel like it, either! Like you said, it was 45 years ago so things might be different now. Kathy.

I have been hospitalized for food poisoning. My stay wasn't all that bad except that there were lots of student nurses coming around checking my stats or attempting to change my sheets like every 30 minutes. It's annoying sometimes, especially when you just want some peace and quiet. Also I didn't like the hospital bed. After one or two days, I was really uncomfortable for some reason, and it felt like the bed was hurting me. I guess it was too much lying down. One thing's for sure, I was really glad when it was time for me to be discharged!

Hello mylelodake, Yes its hell of a stay in the hospital if the bed is not good , the smell is worst , if the nurses(student nurses) are checking you every few minutes , the drips given by thee nurses , looking at other patients. These all make us think to get out of the hospital as early as possible.

yes, due to hypertension. now, i am careful with my diet, take medicine, and regularly exercise. lucky are those who have not been hospitalized. they are at least assured that they are of better health and they are spared of hospital expenses. it is always good to stay healthy and stay away from hospital expenses.

Hello moneymakingtoday, It would be moneylosingalways instead of moneysavingtoday if we are regular to the hospitals.Hope you continue with good health & dont forget to take the prescribed diet & the medicines. Defenitely those who are not hospitalised are lucky. One more thing is they demand money when admitted as they know that they will get whatever the money they demand.

Yes, one time. It was last year and I had to have surgery to remove an ovarian mass the size of a volleyball. I was in the hospital five days, went home, infection came into the incision, almost had to go back into the hospital but they sent me home and ordered a home care nurse to come to my house to dress and pack my incision wound. It was pretty good in the hospital. Most of the nurses and nurses aides were good and friendly, some more than others so my hospital stay was very positive.

Thank God, I have never been hospitalised. But, it's kind scary because at least once a year a member of my family gets hospitalised. So i'm used to a hospital environment. I can tell if the nurses are sincere with their jobs. As much as possible I don't like a student nurse to handle patient because it seems that they're only there out of experience and not of vocation.

Hello shebang, You have put a good point here about handling the patients.Ya they are there to gain the experience & doing so they hurt while giving the injections & all.But its all left to the hospitals. If they decide so what can we do?

When I was 11 I was in the hospital for 3 days because they thought I had appendisitis but it turned out to be a really bad viral infection that had me doubled over for 3 days and I had a fever of 104.6. They finally released me when I kept my fever down for more than 12 hours. I hated the hospital, and I remember it was the day that the summer olympics started...my father and I watched all the ceremonies from my hospital bed...they almost didn't let one of my parents stay overnight with me, but I freaked out so bad they let my dad sleep in the chair the first night and my mom the second night.

The only two times that I have been hospitalized where when my two children were born, and I can't say that those were unpleasant experiences. For me, although I would have much rather been at home, they were okay. Now, I did used to work in a hospital and I know that not all hospital experiences are good, as a matter of fact, the majority of them are not. Most of the nurses that I worked with were good nurses so that wasn't where the issues ran, it was mostly with the roommates that they ended up with while in the hospital. I couldn't even begin to imagine having to spend a night in the same room as a person that I'd never met.

Its a strange thing actually for me,I have never been hospitalised. This may be because I have been lucky every time one could have thought of taking me to the hospital. Most of my relatives are these days down int he hospital with reasons like fever, one with a small fracture also some problems regarding the digestion.I would often visit them and its one kind of a feeling to go to hospitals, you have to deal all the smells over there particularly the medicinal one's and the surgery one's ,oh man that's too much ,I avoid situations going to hospitals. But in case of an emergency what can do, right.

Hello, yes I have been hospitalised one time.It was 11 years ago. I was on vacation in San Diego/La Jolla. I thought I had food poisoning. It turned out my appendix had been leaking for months and was slowly poisoning me.I went in to the hospital on a thursday afternoon and got out sunday morning.I don't recall how the hospital nurses were. The whole experience was foggy in my mind.

I have been hospitalized five times in my life and the nurses were always good to me. I think it might depend on the hospital you were in. If they were rude to me, I would report them to the administrator. Somebody once told me that you can always tell which nurses enjoy their job and which ones are just there for a paycheck. The first time I was in the hospital, I was about five or six years old. I had upper lip surgery. You see, when I was a year old, I fell and bumped my upper lip on the coffee table in our living room in the house we were living in at the time. I made a knot on my lip which I had to have removed when I got older. Mother stayed with me at the hospital. I was admitted to the hospital again when I was 26. I was thrown from a horse and I had two compressed vertabraes in my lower back. I had to stay in the hospital a week. I was in the hospital again in 1983 when I was 31. I had to have female surgery. I was there for two days then. I was in the hospital again in 1990 when I was 38. I had a hysterectomy this time and I was there for about three or four days. The last time I was in the hospital was in 2005 when I was 53. I had gallbladder surgery then and that was pretty rough! I was there about two or three days then. Like I said, they were all good to me but I got pretty sick of that place! I was ready to get home back to my own bed! Kathy.

I forgot to mention that I was sorry to hear about your cousin's accident. I'm glad he's recovering, though. I'm also sorry to hear that you had typhoid fever! I bet that was scary! I live in the states and people used to get typhoid here a long time ago. They used to have a shot for that that you got when you were a baby but since that disease hasn't been around here in years, I don't think they have the shot any more. Kathy.

Yes I had been hospitalized for a small surgery and had to stay for about 4 days. Life in a hospital is really boring with the smell of medicines and anti infections that they use to clean the hospital. Some attenders are really very friendly and helpful while some of them are really irritating.

Hello yogambal, Its true that we cant withstand the smell of the medicines & the anti-infectants.It really gets me into throwing up just by the smell of it.If you bribe them all the attenders will be friendly.

When I was younger I had pushed a button up my nose due to boredom with a prison guard for a babysitter so I had to go to the hospital to get it removed.

Hi all I don't like going to hospitals. Once i fainted in my office and they admitted me in a hospital close by. Injections, Blood test, scan... OMG! i had a very difficult time. Though the hospital was good, I din't like to stay there and i just wanted to leave the place and come home. So i got discharged at night and only after reaching home i was feeling relaxed.
