My state is running low in power and there is a scheduled power cut. It is 30 minute during the day and 30 minutes during the night. It is very difficult to go through the power cut time. Have you ever gone through scheduled power cuts?

Hi there! There is no scheduled power interruptions here in my area. Well, none that I know of but we do have black outs every once in a while. But it doesn't lasts longer than an hour. My country did experience several years back a total black out. I think the whole country had no power that time. And it was so hard to sleep cause it's too hot. I remember here in my area families would check in at hotels at nights just to sleep cause they have generators. I don't want to have power interruptions cause I will miss mylot even for just a few hours. Ciao!

Oh yes.. It's the mosquitoes that's bothering besides the hot weather whenever there is a power interruption. We also stay outside the house and wait for the power to get back. We have candles lit outside and we're armed with hand fans to shoo away those pesky mosquitoes hehe.

Oh...it is a horrible situation to check for hostels to sleep if there is no power at night.I live in a place which has very hot climate almost throughout the year. So, it is very difficult to sleep at night if there is no power. So, we go out and stand there till power comes. It is hard to stand out because there will be too many mosquitoes to attack.

You should be happy that it is only for 30 minutes twice which means only an hour totally. We have scheduled power cuts for 2 hrs everyday which keeps changing every month and we are informed well in advance through the newspaper. Besides we also have un-scheduled power cut which makes us wild sometimes.

Two hours daily???? It is hard to believe. It is too much. The power cut time keeps changing in my place too. I think all of us should open our eyes and take actions to save power. We should make sure that we switch off electricla equipments when we are not using. Thanks for the response.

Hi daliaj, Here in Delhi there is no scheduled power cut but any time the power may go. There is no need to explain the situation when there is no power especially in night. I think this year there was not much problem in night. In my opinion if the power cut is scheduled then we can do the work accordingly and if it is unexpected it will disturb every work. In south Indian states scheduled power cuts are normal and in Kerala if there is a small wind or lightening or thunder then there will be no power.

Five hours is a very long time and I will go crazy by that time. I live in a place which is very hot. It is very difficult to sleep without air conditioner during night. When power goes out during night we come out and stand in the balcony waiting for the power to come. It is a horrible situation. Thanks for the response.

Sometimes their is a scheduled brown out and the light company have scheduled it for every villagers affected by power surges and sometimes caused by maintenance or repair with old post replace by new post. The scheduled last for more than 30 minutes and if their is typhoon The repair last for more than one day..

There never were any scheduled power cuts around here, thankfully or not, so I guess that's a no. It can be a good idea, but, if it's a full-time implemented measure, I don't see the benefit. People will use batteries - the power to charge them will have to come from somewhere all the same. What there probably should be is some sensitizing campaign to try and make people think a bit more when in concern to their power usage habits.

There hasn't been power cuts in my state yet. It might happen later on since PG&E is ruining low on energy to provide to costumers. But hey, it's only 30 minutes. People use to live with only candles for light and have to use firewood to cook. We can survive 30 minutes without our electronics.

I remember to have been in such a situation when I was still in college and I was a bit happy because there was an excuse to do not complete the homework but if now it was the same then to be honest then I will tell you that I cannot support this because I find it too much if there is such power cut.

It never happen here but I would rather have a scheduled one than the one that we have right now. At least I will be prepare and switch off any appliances that may need to be switch off. It's annoying when the power suddenly cut off and I still have my computer and television turn on.

I understand that the situation of unscheduled power cuts is difficult. Atleast I will be prepared for power cuts sicne I am aware of it and plan things accordingly. All of use should make sure that we are turning of the electrical appliances if we are not using and there ensure that we are taking effective measures to save power. Thanskf or the response.

Night city - City
I stay in pune & the load shedding here is 4 hrs in a day, 2hrs each. But since I stay in the city, there is no power cut as the power cut won't happen in the central city.. I think I'm lucky to find a residential area with no power cut at all & even if the power goes due to some technical reason, They will ensure that the power is up within 10-15 mins. Happy Lotting

Thanks for responding to the discussion. I can understand that it is very difficult to go through power cuts. I live in the central part of Chennai and here is less number of power cuts compared to outskirts of Chennai. I liked the picture you have attached to your response. Let us hope we will generate enough power one day.

We have experienced such scheduled power cuts when we were in Kerala. This particular state in India has regular power cuts inspite of having good rains. We had a tough time last year when my daughter had delivered a baby and we had to keep the small child away from mosquitoes during those half an hour power cuts. But as it is scheduled we can be prepared and do our daily chores accordingly.

We have scheduled and unscheduled power cuts in Mysore. This happens during the dasara season when the entire city is refurbished and lightings put up. Even otherwise there is plenty of power shut down in Mysore. Its the most irritating thing..thx

Yes,of couse. Here in my university we have power cuts everyday after 22:45 in the evening. The school governors recommend us students to sleep after the power is cut.And in this way teachers want students to have a good rest during the night to insure that we can be energetic in the day.Now we have been used to it and we don't stay up late. However, there are sometimes when the power is cut during the daytime to maintain electric wires. It is really not comfortable when there is no power in the day. Have a nice day.

We lose our power every now and then. when it is storming and we never know how long it is going to be out. We keep candles, and flashlights around just in case it happens at night.
