Hmm..I'm not sure about it but sometimes it really happened and I've experienced it too.But I'm sure there are some explanation with this symptom just like what jheLaicie had said before. From the roof of our mouth it can triggers the headache when it touch any cold things on a hot day. Then it will heat our brain for a moment or so call the 'brain freeze'.And that's why we sometimes got headache when we eat some ice cream on a hot day but usually it is just for a short time only. There always a reason in any symptoms right? And this is one of it.

I suppose it can cause a brain freeze, but I pretty much never get that from ice cream. The only true headaches I know that are caused by ice cream are in people that have allergies to milk or sometimes other things in the ice cream.

Hmmm sometimes LOL. If i eat ice cream in the middle of a cold day or night I get brain freeze and that sometimes triggers a little ache. But most of the time I don't get a headache when eating ice cream.

i havent heard of a scientific study or any explanations about it. but i guess the coldness of the ice cream can make your brain scream for "brain freeze". that is why we think we are having the headaches. its a cold-stimulus headaches. not a referral link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice-cream_headache and here are some of the details: is a form of brief cranial pain or headache commonly associated with consumption (particularly quick consumption) of cold beverages or foods such as ice cream. It is caused by having something cold touch the roof of the mouth (palate), and is believed to result from a nerve response causing rapid dilation and swelling of blood vessels or a "referring" of pain from the roof of the mouth to the head. The rate of intake for cold foods has been studied as a contributing factor. i hope this could help you more know about brain freeze and on what we think is associated with what we think is a headache! jhelai
