I dranked milk growing up as a child. You know the commercials, that tell you drink milk, it's for good and strong bones and muscles. Lately though, it seems as if milk gives me a mucus build up that is real similar to having a cold. I don't like that feeling at all. I did start trying alternative products to milk like almond milk and soy milk. Actually my son can't do dairy at all so soy milk is all we buy for him at least. I like the flavor of almond milk, and more or less don't like the aftertaste of it though.
What's your take on milk? Do you drink it, can you drink it, do you like it, does it have any reverse affects on you? I saw this television show and the teacher asked this class of 3rd or 4th graders what kind of healthy foods do they like to eat/drink. One kid said, he likes milk but it makes him fart. I thought that was so funny. Any affects like that for you and milk?

I have been drinking milk ever since i can remember it,ie since my childhood. However i never could drink plain milk even when sugar was added to it. so my mom would add Ovaltine in it as it was available in my city over 40 years ago. Later on i switched over to Bournvita and sometimes i used Cadbury`s Cocoa which i had to stop using since it made me constipated. So i reverted back to Bournvita. All this while we were taking buffalo milk which was very fattening so about 15 years ago we switched over to cows milk which has very little fat. However i just drink one glass of milk everyday with Bournvita but have stopped using sugar and have replaced it with Sugar Free Natural which has very scarce cholesterol content.

i do drink milk when i was a child too and could not take it longer as i am lactose intolerance. i drink only milk with no lactose.my mom used to serve me with milk containing milo a chocolate based energy drink like ovaltines. They make a simple milk attractive to kids and the best way to lure kids to drink it, knowing the weaknesses of the child would be able to give them ample amounts of vitamins for growth..

I´m a coffee drinker and I always put a little bit of milk in my coffee to sweeten it as I don´t put sugar. I drink a lot of coffee so probably I drink almost half a liter of milk daily.
Happy posting!

Yes, I drink milk. In fact, I drink cold milk every morning. I like milk because of the creamy taste. It's a good thing I am not lactose-intolerant. For me, milk is not only delicious but also healthy. At least, I won't be guilty if I drink 2 to 3 glasses of milk everyday since I know it is good for my health. Fortunately, there are no side effects when I drink milk like farting as the kid said. :)

hi there hdjohnson,
I, myself, also loves to drink milk and until now I regularly drink a cup of milk every morning. I guess it has been a hobbit for me to drink milk every morning during breakfast and it also helps me in digesting so i guess that's the side effects of milk for me. ^_^

Hi johnson,
I think the creamy milk can make us fat. I used to buy toned milk and I think it has less fat. I agree with you milk is the one of the best source of calcium. Fortunately in my family nobody have any problem with milk (health problems). I think curd is also one important source of calcium and calcium is available in curd than milk so those people have problem with milk can add curd in to their diet. Soya milk is also healthy one to drink and may be there is no side effect. Kids should get sufficient amount of calcium from their diet so parents should take care to provide the same by giving milk or curd or other food which has enriched with calcium.

Yes,I do every day,I have a glass or two of milk,to avoid so called Osteoporosis(loss of bone density).Without this the bone become weak, fragile and easily get fractured. From milk we can benefit-Calcium which is very imperative to our health because it helps regulate our bone to keep stronger.Even so, getting older still one needs adequate amount of milk.Actually, the public has always been encouraged to consume milk in a day through out his life.

that was my favorite drink when i was younger. but my stomach's response to milk has lately grown to be bad and upsetting me. that is why i don't drink milk now.
i know it is good for the bones. i am now taking calcium vitamins though to make up for this.

Hello there, I love to drink milk and consume all kinds of dairy products. I am quite lucky that my stomach can tolerate lactose. Taking enough calcium is especially important to woman due to child birth. Both my daughters also love drinking their milk twice everyday. For me, I can say that drinking milk really don't have any reverse effect on me, maybe only the after smell of milk inside my mouth. Cheers =))

I hate to drink milk right from my childhood, I generally add any health drink powders with it or have it with coffee granules.

Oh yes, I do. Some people have lactose absorption problems in drinking milk. They nauseate and vomit. So they drink soya instead. I currently drink fortified milk. It could be calcium added which is good for bones and it will prevent osteoporosis. I also drink milk with coffee and tea.

Milk was like my best friend! I needed milk so much in my life. I play a lot and I mean a lot of sports. Cross country, track and field, basketball, volleyball, swimming, ping pong, badminton, tennis, and a bit of baseball. I even tried lacross and football but I thought it was too tough for me and I was going to get hurt. x] But without milk, I wouldn't be as tall as I am now, and it helped me a lot. Chocolate milk helped me especially during recovery. I drank two to three cups every day, or I tried too. At first, I thought, what was the point? My parents just make me and then I obeyed. But as I got older, I gained a lot of knowledge and information about the benifits of drinking milk. Now, I'm 5'11 and I'm happy about that. (=

it's true that milk can cause mucus build ups and such. I do like soy milk, it tastes good and is very healthy. I used to drink a lot of milk but I have a mild lactose intolerance so I can't drink to much. So instead I take calcium tablets and such so that I don't have calcium deficiency. And yes, sometimes milk can make you fart. Same goes for cauliflower and eggs.
