ROFl, it's ok, some of have learned your sense of humor ted.
All jokes aside, I thought it was a good speech, much like things I have said to my own kids over the years. I think it was an important message for our youth to hear. And as you noted in one of your other comments, yes, Bill Cosby did in fact say essentialy the same things a while ago and caught all kinds of flack for it, I agread whole heartedly with him too.
This speech could very well as easily have been written by Reagan or Cosby from the way it read out and sounded.

Do you live your entire life on fear and Fox News?

Do you ever get the humor of anything? It's a joke, lighten up!

I didn't say he doesn't use fear. I said the author appears to live in fear along with many other Americans. Fear of what you don't understand. Fear and Fox News- great recipe to keep you suppressed.

Yeah, I thought it was terrible too. Whoever tries to tell my kids to stay in school, and get a good education is the devil in my book.

Did you even read the OP and look at the pic? Or did you just offer your knee jerk reaction to the title?
If you did read the OP and look at the pic... How on earth did you take it seriously?

I heard if you play it backwards you hear Obama's campaign speeches... oh wait, that's just if you look back to all the other Obama speeches compared to this one. ;~D
Didn't Bill Cosby get flogged in the Black community for saying the same things Obama said in the speech? ROFL

at this point i have to find humor in some of the complaints people have. i voted for obama. with that being said i haven't agreed with a lot of the things he's done (or not done) so far. but this was one of those things where i just wanted to smack people for complaining about this speech. of course most people who are anti-Obama are going to find anything to pick at no matter what he does.
and i haven't watched fox news yet today. but i'm curious to hear their reaction to the speech (specifically Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck). i really just watch fox news as comic relief and take it just as seriously as i would the daily show or colbert report.

I didn't get to see how they picked it apart. I only saw a short amount of local news where they were asking children what they thought of the speech. I am curious to know what the cynics/critics had to say.

I think the first couple people who responded may not have caught your humor because (maybe) from seeing your opinions on other topics, you were serious?
When I read it at first, I also assumed you were serious.
It's nice to see your sense of humor from time to time!
I missed the first 8 minutes of the speech, so I can't comment on that portion, but in the rest of the speech that I DID see, I couldn't find anything objectionable.
I know there was a lot of controversy leading up to it, and I had to wonder what complaints people would have about it once it was done.
That's why I HAD to come here to myLOt politics and check things out! lol
Have you missed me? ;-)

I heard about one line that was removed from the speech. I can see how it could have been interpreted badly, whether or not it was intented to be.
I had an interesting conversation with my Dad last night about the speech.
I was suprised by his point of view, but it was definitly interesting.
Basically he was reminded of brainwashing in the 20's or 40's?
I watched the speech and told him that I didnt hear anything wrong.
His reply was that the speeches that were given back then didn't sound like anything was wrong either. I'm not a history buff so I don't know a lot of details, but although I don't agree with some of the hysteria over Obama I certainly got a little bit of insight into another perspective.

Did you even read it? I know you didn't before you spouted your mouth of. Just READ the last paragraph. If that's brainwashing our children then I encourage that kind of brainwashing.

I'm sorry, i thought the humor of this was self evident. I din't think I'd have to paint a "THIS IS POLITICAL HUMOR" sign on it.
