Do you believe in demonic possession?

What are the signs of possession? Are they always noticable? Can bipolar or multipersonality disorder actually be misdiagnosed when it could be a form of possession or drugs? My daughter is 24 and the doctors say she is both bipolar and suffers from multible personalities. She has been suicidal in the past with four attemps to kill herself by slitting her wrists. She can be very confrontational, cry the next moment, threaten you and it is like her personalities just switch off and on with no warning. She was into the occult for years and has her witch name tattooed across both of her wrists. She used to belong to a coven and she practised spells using candles. She is very secretive and still hangs out with people who are into drugs. Could she have become possessed when she was a teenager meddling with the occult?

I believe in it because I have seen many, and dealt with several, cases of spirit possession. I do realise that there are people who refuse to believe init, citing among other things stress, hallucination, and other forms of mental illness. There are various types of possession, of which I will mention two. The first is where there is an immediate change in the person. The most common among girls, at least in my country, is becoming hysterical. Some can relate what they saw after being cured. In the second type the spirit stays quietly in the body, so nobody sees, smells, hears, or feels that there is something amiss. At times it is the spirit that controls the actions of the person possessed. Therefore we see a split personality, or in cases of multiple possession, multiple personalties. I cannot say for sure that your daughter is possessed or not. There is nothing wrong in asking the opinion of those who can see the unseen, specially one who can fight against malevolent spirits. Remember to keep an open minf, and not to completely accept or reject any view given.

I can only imagine how you feel. The Fallen Angel said he would try to lead Adam's descendants astray. Possession of the human body is one of the methods used. Sometimes possession can occur without any involvement in the dark arts. The demon/spirit may take a fancy to the person. In this case the male will be attracted to a female, and vice versa. There were demons/spirits who did it because they wanted to have some fun. Though I am a part time ghost hunter, there isn't much that I can do. The distance is too great. When I first read your discussion, I saw an image of a girl with short hair, which was definitely not black. There were dark circles around the eyes. It could be the product of my over imaginative mind.

You must be careful to watch your daughter. The occult it is the factor. From the book i had read, the occult is number one reason of possessed. Because they believed in the devil's name they can be rich, can be popular, can be respected, etc. I think you should call a priest to your house if she doesn't want you to take her into the church's service, especially for exorcism. Tell the priest to pray for her first. Because exorcism can not be done if the person don't believe in Jesus or haven't make a promise for a true repentance. Besides it will disturb her if you do something on her without her permission. Then introduce her the verses from the Bible. There are two kinds of possessed: 1.Consciously. 2.Unconsciously. And for your daughter, i think the number one, she opened her eyes but unconscious. Find the problem, support her, she needs your support. Approach her, spend more time with her. I hope this will help.

Sorry, i was saying 'full possessed' and ' a half possessed', not 'conscious or unconscious.' Full possessed is like in the movie Exorcist, did you watch that, that little girl possessed by the demon's presence in her? That's fully unconscious. A half possessed is like you are angry but can not control your anger. Or you mocked someone over and over again, the words are like slipping out of your mouth, and once again with no control. It's difficult if already since so long she mingled with it. It can not be healed only in a few days or a week, because it's been a part of her. What you must do is to be patient, keep pray to God, prayer can help and it has a big power in our lives. Believe it. How long she get there is how long she will be cured. Especially she had some friends you said, that means bad. Cut her relationship with them, i think that's the only way. But you are not her, so it's a bit complex. You'll have a quarrel with her if you cast out her friends from your house. But to me, it's the only way.

yes, there is such things as demonic possession. and being involved in occult could be the reason specially if she wants to get away from it that the demons tried to destroy her. but that is my belief. i don't want to force my belief on others. she needs help. try to bring her to church. but i don't believe in that bowl. it is right that you worry over the condition of your child. you must look for help from a church. only prayer can help her with supportive friends and loved ones.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your daughter. But I think your daughter is either demon possesed or oppressed. Her involvement with cult and not acknowledging God in her life are strongholds that can be used the demons to take hold of her life. She is in danger. She needs help and urgently. We have seen situations like that and I can say that only God can help and has the power to give her the freedom that she deserves. Pray that God will direct you to the right person who can help your daughter. You can also use the internet to seek for help. If the person or group has nothing to do with God they cannot help you. We will also pray with you dvmurphy.

Bipolar disorder is a complicated and difficult disorder to deal with without demonizing the condition further. Do yourself and if you love your daughter, do her the favor, of learning all you can from reliable sources about bipolar disorder before you bring priests into the mix. Please. You may make worse for your daughter what is already a bad situation. She's already tried more than once to kill herself and has succeeded in injuring herself. Please read and give both of you the best chance at dealing successfully with your daughter's disorder. If you want help, I'd be more than happy to help you. nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/bipolar-disorder/index.shtml psychcentral.com/lib/2007/the-causes-of-bipolar-disorder-manic-depression/

ABSOLUTELY!! personality disorders are hell to deal with and live with...I know that once I was diagnosed with my disorders reading up on these things myself AND having my husband read up on them etc has been a HUGE help...not just within our home and family but in explaining to friends and family as well...

I am sorry to hear about what you and your daughter are going through. There have been cases where doctors misdiagnose possession with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In the Philippines, people believe that if you take a possessed person to a doctor for treatment, they will only get worse. They will not improve. Some signs of possession can be change of habit/personality, interest in the occult, becoming detached from society, etc. However, there is no absolute 100% guide to it. I would recommend, however, that you get her to a priest or consult with a priest about your concerns. I do believe in possession because I had witnessed the exorcism of my Aunt at the age of 8. I also see "weird" things. You can say I have my third eye open. People who practice witch craft and the occult are inclined to being demonically possessed. Chances are, since your daughter did practice such things, she may have done "rituals" as well. Sometimes these rituals open portals to the world beyond and they leash demons and bad spirits into a place or even onto a person and this is the reason why practicing such things are very dangerous. I think you should take your daughter to church. That's always a good start.

I still remain that tampering with the spirit world can get you into a lot of trouble, especially if you don't understand it clearly we do have different experiences...the SPIRIT WORLD in Witchcraft and many other alternative practices is NOT the same as any "DEMON" world which is as I said a CHRISTIAN concept.Witchcraft has absolutely NOTHING to do with demons/devils etc...again, that is a Christian concept.... Upset me? LOL hardly hun...

Did that just hurt you? I think I am within my right to respond as I deem fit without disrespecting others. "Uneducated" is when you accuse others of being that way. You and I clearly have different experiences so don't judge me just because you practice such things. I am not against it because everyone has their own beliefs. I still remain that tampering with the spirit world can get you into a lot of trouble, especially if you don't understand it. I came from a family with many who practice these things so I think I know what I'm saying.

If you believe in God then it can be possible that she has this possession. Also if she believes in it then the same. I do think many times that the diagnosis of these things is just a label for what we as a people don't understand. I defiantly believe that during a time that all the witchery is being practiced and done one can slip into this state and open their selves up. Has she always been diagnosed this even as a child? I have some particular issues and its because of my childhood. I was abused then became a very angry teen. I have since let all that go for the most part, but people need to be honest with her and she needs to be honest for herself. But she is pretty young still. She might not be ready for that.

My daughter is also bipolar but I have not seen her experienced the things your daughter underwent through. Medicines will be of great help to survive this case.
