There are so many breeeds of dogs, and it's important to choose a breed that's best for you. Which breed do you think is the best and why?

Oh, the best breed of dog is totally the german sherperd. And very easy to explain why. Well, for instance, it is german...sooo, that's awesome. Sieg and stuff? Plus, they're faithful and yadda yadda. I should go sleep soon :|

If you like big dogs, I would say a lab. They are lovable and get along well with children and also seem very easy to train. As for smaller dogs, I would say a poodle. They do not shed and usually get along well with children and are very protective.

I think that's a hard one to answer. I've had several dogs and mixes of dogs over the years. I think it's more how you raise any animal is the key to a good one.
All of mine are like family and they know their names, know how to find on of the kids if they go out of eye shot and they even know the 'tone' of my voice if they've done something wrong.
I've had German Shepards, Labs, Mastiff, wolve mixes and a Golden Retreiver, but I can't say that any one dog breed is better than the other. I think to really put a tumb on that you'd have to have a specific purpose like which breed is better with livestock or hunting.
As for them being a pet, it goes with the old saying children are as good as their parents. I think that applies with our fury little friends too.

Hi coghlan,
The best dog for me is the Great Dane. As a guy, I like the larger dogs, so the size appeals to me in that respect. I also like the attitude of the Dane...very gentle and laid back, and very loyal. My Dane, without any proper training, bonded with me to the point where I could take her outside, and she would never leave my side. After I bought her as a puppy, I brought her home sleeping in my arms. They say that, for Danes at least, they bond to whoever they are going to bond with the first time they are taken home, so that was really special to me. I loved how she could nuzzle my infant boy and not harm him, but at the same time, she could growl at a stranger and vibrate the earth under my feet. Protective, but VERY loving! By far, the Great Dane is the best for me...
