How old are you when you learned how to swim?

I love swimming. My older brother, friends and I often went to the nearest river and spend the whole day swimming. We often scolded by our mom. But it doesn't matter since we have so much fun. I think I was around seven years old when I learned how to swim. It was my older brother who enthusiastically taught me until I able to master and take courage to swim few meters.
How about you? How did you learned to swim? and how old are you then?

Both of my brothers are their school's representatives for the swimming team. They have swimming competition every year, so they spend half the year practicing for the competition and when its over they kick back and play playstations. I learned to swim from them, 2 or 3 years ago. I can't say i'm as good as them because they were mainly focused on their practice then teaching me, just commented that i should do this and that way. I am 22 years old now, and i learn swimming at the age of 19 i guess, pretty late compared to my brothers. If i had learned earlier, i'd liked to think that i would practice a lot and try to get into the big leagues, apparently my brothers just like their playstations. but its really cool to have two brothers who can swim so well, you should see them in the pool, people will stop and watch them, fast and slick. i envy them. but i can always be the show off sister going 'those two.. my brothers.' hahahaa. nice topic.

Well thank you dex1007. You're very lucky, yeah you should be proud of them. Not all sister have brother like yours. That's your opportunity to let people envy with you.LOL
My brother was a very good swimmer but he prefer his painting than swimming. So it's still fine.
Anyways thanks for sharing with us and have a great day!

lol i'm learning how to swim right now. None of my brother's or sisters no how to swim. My dad has a fear of water and my mom was too busy raising 6 kids to have the free time to teach me. Needless to say i'm happy to finally be able to learn.

I learned how to swim at a very young age...so young that I don't remember. It seems like I've always been very comfortable in the water. My ex was very afraid of the water and he used to try to make the kids afraid, too, but I taught them to swim at a young age, too, so they never were.

I do not really remember learning to swim. I grew up with a pool in my backyard until we moved to another state when I was 6. I know I was able to swim by the time we moved and probably by the time I was 4. I used to spend a lot of time in the pool when I was a kid and took swimming lessons several years to master different strokes and form. I also spent a lot of the summer when I was a kid at a cottage on a lake and spent many days in the lake.
