Charity for animals.
Don't get me wrong here, I think some effort should be used in maintaining the life of an animal. The thing that gets me is I see more commercials for animal health and sanctuary than I see for the millions of homeless children and families in the United States.
I have participated in food drives and food distribution and this hurts me to the core. Personally, I will never give anything to save a stray animal as long as there are homeless children on the streets around me.
Having kids of my own, I just don't understand it. The commercials show former pets that have been abused by their respective owners, or the starving pets that have been left behind. Give me a frickin break. What about the 3 year old in the cold living in a cardboard box with his/her siblings and parents because of the current economic situations that have definitely hit us all in some shape or form.
This has got to shift in focus. Like others I love animals but please where is the ethics of human life as it pertains to this.
Every time I see these commercials I get sick to my stomach.
I know many will say animals don't have a voice, well I beg to differ. I think of that every time I see the youngest of rogue pets going through the trash cans to locate food stuffs as they would with/without an owner. Can a small child do that effectively? Can they, do you think they can?
What do you think?

I know right. It just really pains me. People have an urge to help our animal friends but really at what cost?
I don't understand it, not at all.
