Hi,
I'm in the process of setting up an online community (forum/blog etc) that is going to be directed towards the more senior citizens ( I've started another discussion going into more detail but in a nutshell I eventually want to have a place where senior/elderly people can chat and share their experiences etc with others) but for now I'm putting out a call to anyone that may be interested in being a guest poster on the blog (senioronline.info)
As many of us know the older members of our communities often have wonderful tales to tell and anecdotes etc to share but often don't have the ability or knowledge of how to share them with others online (that's where this community comes in :-) )
So if you're a more senior member of this community and have a funny story to tell, a life experience you want to share etc, please let me know I'd love to have you as a guest poster on the blog (or if you'd rather become a member of the forum - the forum is still only very new with no members yet - but I have to start somewhere so I'd also be happy to take any suggestions on topics I should have etc)
I'd also be happy to hear any thoughts you might have on the blog - if you're interested in being a guest poster please leave a note here - or you can contact me via the blog through the contact page or leaving a comment(senioronline.info) or the forum (senioronline.info/seniors-forum/index.php)
Have a great day

What do you consider "senior"... I guess that would be my first question. I don't think I am there yet, but I am getting closer every year!!

LOL If you're interested you're more than welcome to join in now, while the site will primarily be aimed at seniors/elderly there's plenty of others out there that can offer advice/services or a friendly ear/chat screen to talk with etc. So the more the merrier

Great idea, some people think alike. I am in the process of setting up a website geared towards seniors in Canada. I could also be a guest poster on your forum. Send me a friends' request and we can talk through a prive message.

I'm definitely in the right age bracket and wouldn't mind being in a community with others of my own age and life experience, but I'm not the type to enjoy funny stories or tell anecdotes about my life. I assume there's more to your forum than that? I'll check it out and if it looks interesting, I may sign up.
Best of luck either way. I just started a network on ning.com, for adults on the autism spectrum, and I'm the only member at the moment. But it's only been one day, and I've only announced it on one site.

HI,
Thanks for the response. Yes the forum/blog will involve more than that - and I'm open to suggestions for any other topics etc you think it needs - health, money concerns etc - it's still very much in it's early stages yet so there's always more to come.
Good luck with your network - if you ever need help promoting it etc let me know I've been promoting sites etc for awhile now so might have some ideas you haven't thought of

Great idea. the amount of challenges faced by senior people are not all heard because they just cope with it - with the solitude, pain in various forms and possible worry.
If more people can be aware of senior life, it will be a much better place for all.
Personally I believe that senior citizens deserve every support we can offer - from giving them our time to artifacts that can help them such as automated mobility. logistics and security equipment for instance...
For the young people who wish to virtually experience old age consider this prayer from a senior: "God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference."
Cheers
