religion vs punishment

in our religion, many tough punishments are given to the bad people. I think its the toughest religion to follow. we are taught that , if we do bad deeds then we will go to the hell where we will be burnt alive and in hunger, we would be served thorns and bad things while in thirst we will be given boiled water which we have to eat and drink against our wishes.

All religions have had excessively cruel punishments in the past, and I doubt there is any way of deciding which was the worst. In current terms, very traditionalist Islam would probably run first, with some minority elements of Hinduism running second, particularly in relation to punishments handed out to women for perceived immoral behaviour.
