Growing up we had a Springer Spaniel. He was the best dog. So friendly. Some of my friends would say they were afraid of him because he reminded them of Cujo from the Stephen King movie.
I was very young when we got him. We got him from the SPCA as a puppy. He was in an area with some beagle puppies. We decided one of his friends needed to come too. So we came home with two dogs that day.
I have a lot of allergies, but would always sneak him into my room. When he heard my parents get up in the morning he was bolt for the kitchen. They knew he was in my room. It was funny though.
I will remember him forever.

hi
we too have one cocker spaniel, which has all the qualities as you say about springer spaniel. It will eat anything from raw vegetables to icecream to fruits. It will not allow anyone in his territory. the bigger it is growing its fur is also growing long, silky and ears are too long and we need to tie it upwards otherwise it will be falling in its plate while eating food or drinking milk

Vathsala, have you ever seen the water and food dishes that sit in a stand so when the dog eats the ears hand over the side? My spaniels ears always neede upkeep with the hair matting and keeping the ears clean. My poor dog had a problem with moist ear canals that would itch and I would keep them clean as much as possible.

We had two spring spaniels! They are very good dogs. One we had, Lady, was a stray and she was a very good dog. She had a natural bird dog ability and would fetch just about anything that came her way. Her only fault is she did not like other dogs. She could go after another dog is it tried to invade her space. My husband misses her the most.
