Regarding Rome and southern Italy I cannot say because I havent been there yet and I wish to go so much but I can tell you something regarding the north. Last Summer I went to a place called Lido di Jesolo. Its a lovely place and its amazing in Summer. You could visit many places while being in lido di jesolo. Venice is just a few minutes far. You have to go to a place and catch a ferry. While also in the area of Lido di Jesolo you can visit Gardaland a famous fun ride park in italy, just an hour or 2 away from Lido di Jesolo. Another 2 places which are very nice to visit are Padova and Verona. While being there I also went to Slovenia, and spent nearly a whole day there. But to go to slovenia if i remember well it takes around 4 hours. I am just telling you places which I visited but it was a lovely tour. You can visit lots of places. Lido di Jesolo best time is in September. These streets are full of hotels, shops, bars, restaurants etc and they stay open till late at night. Their the streets are amazing. You see so many tourists from different countries. I love it!
