I am looking into allergy medications for my son. He is 7. What works better Zyrtec or Claritin? What's the difference between them? I don't think he can swallow pills yet. So I am looking into liquids, chewable, or ones that dissolve in the mouth. What do you suggest? We do not know what he is allergic to yet. He is being tested this month. He seems to have the same symptoms as me when I am having allergy problems.

Hi BMuchler
Clariton works pretty good for me although it doesn't work for everyone for those that it does work for it works really good. It last for 12 or 24 hours have you thought of trying Clariton Redi Taps they disolve in the mouth so there is no need to swallow a pill. Clariton pills are very small however I understand that some kids just won't swallow pills no matter how small my daughter was like that until she was about 15. I think they do make Clariton Redi Taps for kids and its non drowsy so they won't have that sleepy feeling during the day when he's in school and needs to be alert. Talk to your doctor about what your son should take there are so many allergy OTC medications and RX medication out there your bound to find one that works for your son. Hope this helps
