I think lots of us would rather be an employer than working for somebody, at least it is so far what I have heard from my friends and families that they would like. So if you were given a chance to set up your own business, what type of business would you go for? Do you have an idea in your mind already? I personally like food, I have thought about set up catering services, would like to have different cusines like chain restaurant! What about you?

My dream is to set-up a lottery franchise. I was told that it is a very lucrative business plus the fact that you only need to deposit a very minimal bond or a land title. I think, it is being requested to ensure that you won't get away with the money bets.

If ever I were to have a business, I would put up a grocery store since everybody needs supplies for their own consumption and I think it is a good business. You may need to spend lots of money, but I guess, it would be worth it. Another business I would like to have is a beach resort because I believe many people love leisure and recreation. They would love to spend time on the beach. It would be a good business where they could buy food and provide additional services like horsebackriding, jet skiing, island hopping.

I have been working for a company which is in the international trading business. I get to travel to many countries in different parts of the world on my business trips. I see lots of potentials in the business. So, I like to set up my own business too in the international trading line. import-export. Every country has some thing unique to export.

I already have business that I want, there are advantages and disadvantages of owning one, although disadvantages are nothing compared to reward and self fulfillment when you succeed.

In first few month or so it's difficult, you have to please every customer to keep it coming back, after sometime you'll get over it.

Awesome ideas you've got there.. As for me, I'd like a bike workshop business. Or an internet cafe because I love the internet and to provide a service whereby people can surf the net, print their work and etc would be awesome..

I want to start my own computer repair - or take the place i work for over (the offer is out there) BUT there are some major changes id make to things. Slowly (its kinda funny) since my co-worker and i pretty much run the place without our boss those changes are already being made.

I guess people wanted to work or be an employee not by choice but because of circumstance. How nice it would be to open up a business but the sad thing is not everyone has the capital and not everyone has the knowledge to start something. Maybe some are also afraid to invest. I think your idea of a chain restaurant is very good considering that what you provide is a basic need... "food". People naturally eat. So if you have this idea and you have a good cook, then that would be something that will surely be a hit. I have already started mine. But it was not part of the plan. It was just a hobby of mine and evolve into business. I am happy with the result. Though I am starting out, its going great so far. I wish you luck in yours and wish you success!

Setting up a food business is one of my business agenda. Singapore is a food paradise, so I thought food business would be a good idea. Previously, I have set up stall selling kids' DIY craft and also on-the-spot tee-shirt printing. I personally like small stall that I can always change the things that I want to sell. Cheers =))

Yes,you are right,I am one of those who would like to set up my own business instead of working for others all the times.Currently,I am thinking of starting selling air-craft items home and abroad online, you know I have been thinking of this idea for years, but you know I still got a long way to go,I got to collect enough working capital,I have to find good suppliers, and the most important thing is to seek customer,so by now,I haven't really started it yet,but I will keep working on it,I believe once you stick to it and working working, you can one day make it done.

hi mermaidivy! a friend of mine told me that if i want to engage myself into business, it should be something that i would love to do. so here am i into bags and accessories! still a struggling starter but hopefully it works coz am really enjoying it. in the long run, i hope i could have my own boutique and also hoping to have my own restaurant coz i like food particularly pasta. but am exploring new taste for me like chicken biryani and risotto. if given the chance, i also want to have my own law firm and a firm for public relations, hehe. lastly, my own film production coz i love filmmaking too LOL! anyway, these are all i want to achieve IF ill be given the chance to do so. for now, i stick to reality pertaining to the bags and my studies. am keeping my two feet on the ground. so there. tnx! :)

Hi Mermaidivy. I would open either a discount store (in the real world) or start an internet based business for people to find LEGITIMATE FREE work from home opportunities. However, the internet business idea would be almost impossible for me to start since I have looked and looked for over a year for some legitimate work to do from home and all I find are scams or free offers that eventually lead you to the "we really only want your money" scams!

Saviour-V teleports in... I wouldn't mind setting up a restaurant chain of sorts in my country of Malaysia. But I'd be hard-pressed to find my unique niche with regards to cuisine - we most certainly have a lot of that. But there are very few peaceful places that you can just sit down, order a bite to eat, and relax, while still being able to keep more cash on hand. In most cases, such places are pretty expensive here, but I'd like to change that when I can. Saviour-V bows, and teleports out...

My dream is to open a cattery so I can look after people’s beloved kitties when they go on holidays. I’ve had this in mind for a while actually and I have been on the look out for one that may come up for sale. My ultimate dream would be to open one from scratch but that would be way beyond our means. As a matter of fact I have no idea how I would pay for one if it did come up for a buyer; I guess I would have to meet my bank manager and be extra nice to him!

Starting own business is better than just working for low-paid salary, but you need to have enough capital. Actually the type of business I prefer is a big supermarket,More details,it should be international supermarkets with many branches all over the world. It's definitely one of the most money-making business, and if the business management runs well,I could get excellent result.
