Are you addicted to texting?

I put my phone on silent when I'm at work, but periodically I check it just to see if I have a new text from one of my friends. It always perks me up to receive a new text message, and it kind of feels like it gives me the ability to socialize whenever I want, and take a little break from the monotony of the workday. I often wonder if I send enough text messages in a day to be addicted. Surely on days where I'm planning things with friends, I send many more than normal, but on an average day I would be surprised if I really send more than 30 or 40. What about you?

You send 30-40 texts a day , and you thing you are addicted? Maybe the standards where you live are different than in my country , but here , 30 texts a day IS A LOT... Here , 40 texts a day is pretty much considered an addiction :) . I , myself , am not really addicted to texting , as to texting to a certain person , and even to her , i send no more than 40 messages MAX , when we talk via texting. Even so , this doesnt happen every day (Or my phone bill would be too large for me to handle ;D ) ...but in the end , as i said , maybe just the standards are different here , and where you live , this isnt a problem to worry about ;) .

Am I addicted? No, I wouldn't say that I am addicted to texting, but I sure do text alot more than I ever though I would. It took me a long time to actually start to get into the whole texting fad. But, with the purchase of my new phone, I went ahead and got a contract that had texting included and I have a keyboard on this phone which make texting very easy. So now, instead of bothering someone with a phone-call when I just have a simple message to convey, I send a text instead.

I'm not addicted to texting but awhile ago I found out my son was. He ran up the texting bill to like $600 which was how I learned to take the umlimited texting plan for just these kinds of scenarios.

Oh boy! My mom discovered the same thing with my youngest brother when she got him a cellphone. I don't think it was $600, but it was still far too high.

In the past, I used to be addicted to texting. I used to send more than a hundred texts per day. Now, I don't text much anymore. I usually just send around 20 texts per day these past few months. I guess the novelty just wore off. Now, I just call the person right away on my cellphone rather than text him/her. But you're right. Receiving text from people especially friends brighten up one's day. I feel the same way.

I've been IMing for over 10 years so I guess I'm addicted to that, texting just makes it more convenient because I don't have to be seated in front of a computer to contact other people, plus they don't have to log in to get them!

I am not addicted to texting but yes I send and receive texts everyday. Sometimes when I am busy or people I know are working texting makes life much easier. I usually send maybe 7-10 a day and yes I get alot more then that because there is usually 6 or 8 people that text me just about everyday.

Yes,I am afraid I am a little addicted to texting.I would like to communicate with friends by text messages rather than calls.Sometimes I check my cell phone to see whether I got any text message. If I didn't receive ,I may fell sort of disappointment.

Hi breepeace, I do set my cell phone in silence mood during office hour. Ringing tones are not allowed to be heard in the office. In case we receive any emergency when seeing the vibration, we usually would talk on the cell phone outside the office or in the restroom. Sometimes I would do some texting as well when receiving incoming sms. I’m not addicted to texting. I do it when it’s necessary. If discussing about any pending plan for the coming weekend or holiday I then would keep on texting with my friends. Yeah, it’s so exciting to plan for such interesting and fantastic holiday activities It’s very much cheaper to do texting than talk on phone. Doing texting no one would know what we are chatting about. We also could have lots of fun by texting. Wow, more than 30 to 40 in a single day! The number of texting you have made in a day makes me to feel really amazed Happy posting!

Even though I like texting & many at times, I prefer texting than calling friends. My friends always used to send me the messages with nice dialogues or wordings which I always forward to my other friends. When I get a new girl friend, I may send more than 100 SMS a day! Happy Lotting

I don't like mobile texting at all. I'm not good at texing and don't have so many friends to make texting to. I've noticed that people around me text a lot every day. They are always texting no matter where they are . You can see many people are very busy with their mobiles on buses, trains or queuing. It might be a fashion among young people .

Hi there. I guess that you are really addicted to text. I can say that I was addicted to text before because on normal days I usually am able to send almost 300 text a day and that is only for the quotes using the group message list of the phone. I know that it is very unrealistic to hear, but I guess that is the truth of my addiction. I'll die if I am not able to text for few minutes. My hands would involuntarily rush through the phone to push that buttons again. In holidays I guess I am able to text 500 message in one day. That's how addicted I am before. Good thing there was unlimited texting here in the Philippines. If there was none I think I'll be in a bankrupt by now. I was still a student that time. Now I have change a lot and now I can only text for like 10 message per day and that is the most. Good thing that the unlimited service is still on and I can have a budget of 5pesos per day to enjoy continuous texting.

Yes I do. Here in my country, mobile service include unlimited texting. I just register and in a minute I will receive a confirmation that I can now used the unlimited texting. Because my friends and I have same mobile subscribed number, what we do for everyday is to text each other. We text about anything. We both complete the day of both by texting. So if she did not text me for an hour or two, I will be worried. lol.

i used to text alot thats all i used to ever do i was even texting landlines but i just got so bored with it after a while that after about the 3rd reply back to someoone i usually call them now unless i know that their phone isn't free. i personally don't think someone can be addicted to texting, its just a way of communicating that is more cost efficient than calling and more convienent than going to the persons house. i also text when i am talking to a friend of mine thats a trucker that is always making trips to the states cause to phone him would cost an arm and a leg (i'm from canada) so with roaming charges and long distance charges for him it gets pretty pricey... my new big thing though that i can't seem to get enough of is the unlimited web on my cell

Hello breepeace. I am not addicted to texting. I prefer more of making a call when I want to talk to someone because the circle of my friends are using the intra-net, ie, we pay for some fee for service and we can consume minutes for free. It is very convenient. Also it is very cheap to make a long distance call after nine in the evening and before eight in the morning. It is the same price per minute like we pay for texting fee. Good day, breepeace.

I am more a text person too. Its just easier in many ways. I can keep the message brief, communicate what I need to and I don't need to think about if the person I am sending the text to , is busy to take my call or not! :) So I think texting is a good option and I use it more than I call people. But I would not consider myself an addict. I don't think my texts per day are more than 15-20.

No, I cannot say this because the text messages have to be really cheap or free for me to get addicted, which is not the case. I do not want to waste money.
