I am currently in college finishing up my AA in business. I will then pursue my Bachelor's Degree in business administration. I work for a great company but I am currently in the warehouse. I want to graduate and then attempt to move up at the company. There are times when I feel that my job is boring, repetitive, and unchallenging. It drives me crazy !!! I am always looking for ways to challenge myself and become a more valuable asset to my company. I do not feel like I am being taken seriously because I am a warehouse employee. I know that I am meant for bigger and better things but I have to wait until I graduate. Does anyone else out there feel like a big fish in a small pond. Like you know who are better than what your current job title suggests but cannot seem to get a chance to prove it?

I know exactly what you mean! I'm stuck lifeguarding, but I haven't worked at this pool for long enough to qualify for the assistant manager position. I can't stand just lifeguarding because none of the people at the pool really take the lifeguards seriously, they just follow the orders of the manager and the assistant managers. It's just a matter of time til I can move up, though. I'm just going to stick with it and that's the best advice I can give to you. If it's going to change, you'll have to give it time and wait for a while. Maybe something will happen soon where someone will notice your skills. Who knows? Just wait a bit and see if it gets better.

I know that I can move up and although my current job is not exactly my dream job, I do work for a great company. I am glad that I am going to school to better myself because it normally takes people 5-10 years to move up if they do not have an education. I know that I will move up in half the time because they place a high value on education and will jump at the chance to hire someone with a degree. I have already established somewhat of a reputation with some of the big dogs. They see me as someone who is ambitious and takes initiative. That will help me tremendously. I know that you will do well too if you keep pushing forward. Remember to tell yourself everyday this quote..."Where I am is not where I am going to be"
