Hey friends all of you must have heard about the recent development in the education system of India. Hon'ble Minister of Education, Govt of India introduced the new system in which there will be no 10th board exam from 2011 and it will be optional for students. From 2010 only grading will be awarded under CBSE. The argument behind implementation of this new system is to relief the students as well as parents from the stress & tension of 10th Board Exam. Do you think this system will be fruitful in near future or it will be accepted by mass. If so what is the merit and demerit of the scheme, plz share your views on the subject. pkc3000

First of all nice topic PKC. Hats off to you! should the current system persist or grades b introduced? I feel the current system is good even though its not the best. Class 10 is too early for grades to be introduced.let it be after 12th.what is the hurry? what do u think can bring out d real talent properly and justifiably? By reducing the marks present in theory papers and give equal importance to other activities like practicals, extra curricular activities etc. Example, if 50 marks is reserved for theory paper then 25 marks for practicals and 25 marks for extra curricular activities. I feel this way it shall ensure all round development of the student who shall be good at both extra curricular activities and studies.. The extra curricular activities can range from Art, sports etc etc. thus bringing out hidden talents from the students which can separate the cream from others. At the same time the government must invest in schools to improve the infrastructure in the schools so that they provide all the facilities for the students to showcase their skills in best possible manner. Board exams are too bothersome for students and put unnecessary academic pressure on them. It does put pressure on the students to perform in the wake of so many people attempting to write 100 marks paper and pass the exam in flying colors. Having said that the whole system needs some reform and should not be scrapped and the process that i mentioned above could turn out to be a good one at the end.

i have heard about it too, but it would not be so effective as the numbers are very important to check the talent of the students. Instead of doing this , the government should have forced the institutions to take students through admission tests rather than mark basis. it would be of no use as most of the students will hold first class or A grades in the marksheet which would create more problems to rate a student.
