can you still remember your age in which you already know how to read a single word? i asked my mother at what age did i know how to read, she said that time when i was about 5 years old. my mother told me that i could read a commercial ad on tv and post signs on the road when i was about that age.

I think i started to read when i was 5 or 6. Too late compared to others who learned how to read at the age of 3. It was my teacher who taught me how to read because my parents were too busy making money lol. My teacher won't allow us to go home unless we read what was written on the board. I kinda hate her because i was always late with the kiddy game my friends and i play. Later did i realize that what she did was great. Now, i can read and converse with the language i am not native with; it all started when i learned how to read hehe.

Hi xannebull! I didn't learn how to read until I was in the first grade. I would have been 6 years old. When I was growing up, that was about the age all kids learned how to read. They didn't teach you to read in kindergarten in those days. What we learned in the first grade back then, they learn in kindergarten now. Also, there wasn't any such thing as "Sesame Street" in htose days. I don't know if youall have Sesame Street in the Phillipines or not but in case youall don't, it's a tv program for children where they learn how to read and do different things. I think children are a lot smrter now than they were when I was a child. Kathy.

I started reading at the age of three well thanks to my grandfather who was a genius and because of him today I can read and I am willing to go further in life too, unfortunately he is no more but when I read or whenever I finish a book I always think of him. Today I can say that I love reading, I am a book worm, I can read many books. When I travel I do not stop to read those signs boards on the road too.

Since I have no memory whatsoever regarding this topic, my mom said I already be able to write and write when I was in kindergarten. I don't know whether I can read before that so I guess I started by the age of 6. I do remember hiding under the teacher's desk (we were gathered in front of the blackboard) since the teacher love to ask me to read.
