My rant is about scammers and the people the choose to scam. I have this donation button up on my blog, well a friend of mine said she was searching online and found some Free websites where people posts pleas for donations. I figured well it probably won't work but I will give it a try. So I signed up for a few sites and posted my need and what was going on. I didn't receive any donations(no surprises there) but I started getting lots of emails. Many would say
Hello I read your story and would like to help, please send me more information.
So I did and then I would get this email back
Thank you for responding I have decided to help you with your situation I will be sending you a check or money order in this amount, please take the money you need and then forward the rest to the address that will be provided in the letter I am sending you.
OMG! OK I know MANY people look down on people asking for help, but does that make a huge NEON SIGN over my head saying please SCAM ME?
I mean why would I do that? So I can cash this check or money order and wind up in jail? I mean come on how dumb do these people think I am? I am desperate but not STUPID!

I have never trusted nor responded to such emails after I got precious lessons some years ago. I was their "victim" too. I was just so naive that I took my time and some little amount. I was expecting to help people but then I was scammed. Lucky me, I studied the situation and realized that I was scammed. Since then I never trusted any email in anyway. One good lesson is enough for me.

Yes it is a hard lesson but a good one. I guess I was naive to think that because I was asking for help that i wouldn't be scammed. But because they knew I needed the money badly I assume they think they could pounce on me.

Scammers are every where from in and out of the internet world. even with IP trackers, they still get away with it and move on, for the next victim. you have every right to rant about that. must be very hard to accept.

I guess I knew me posting on these sites would be a long shot, but when I got these emails, before I opened them I had HOPE. Only to be kicked again while I am down. And it hurts me to think others on these same boards might be tricked only to be put in jail or have their bank accounts trashed by scammers.

People must fall for this stuff or these scams wouldn't keep going around and around and around. I guess they think (or hope) that you're stupid and will think you're really going to get money out of it and they'll be long gone before you find out otherwise.

yes you are right, and the sad thing is the other people who posted stories of need on the sites i mentioned will probably fall for it. I think that makes me even more mad.

Some people just want to make money, regardless of means.
I suppose they figured they can't rob a bank or do their scoundrel-ing themselves, so they try to resort to other people. If it works, good for them, if not, most likely than not sucks to be you.
These people pry on people's naiveness which is considerable, especially for many people on the internet. For some reason, they seem to believe in people more easily through a text contact over the internet than any other method and they end up falling in these and similar tricks.
So, it's not a matter of them thinking how dumb people are, because they know people -are- dumb. They just have to search for one that won't wake up halfway through the process though.

I suppose that is true,if people wouldn't fall into the traps these scammers make then the scamming would probably stop altogether. I guess it just amkes me upset to think there are people out there that really need help and end up getting burned in more ways then one.
