I remember as a kid, my Dad making home made ice cream with the old time crank handle ice cream maker. Mom would cook up the ingredients, then Dad would put the ice and salt around the container and start cranking. I always wondered how on earth he could stand there and crank for sooooo lonnnnng! But WOW was it worth it (to us kids, at least and it seemed so for Dad, too)! The recipe Mom used required the cooking first, but there's also the condensed cream version that doesn't require cooking, but it's not as good. I'd love to hear of some of your favorite recipes for making good ol' home-made ice-cream! Someone made some peach ice cream at our church icecream social a few years ago. That was pretty awesome! But I don't have a recipe for that, either. Looking forward to trying out some new ones!

Oreo Cookie Ice Cream
4 cups half-and-half, light cream or milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 cups whipping cream
Half a package of Oreo Cookies (processed in a food processor)
In a large bowl combine half-and-half, sugar and vanilla. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Stir in whipping cream and then add the oreos. Fix it in the ice cream maker according to package directions and you have oreo ice cream
You can substitute the oreos for just about anything. Throw some strawberries and bananas in there for Strawberry Banana Ice Cream. Throw in your favorite candy bar.
Hope you like it!

Hi Lynettestarr, my favourite ice cream recipe is to use natural Greek yogurt rathet than the usual ice cream base and to that one can add something before freeaing if one likes and I find the easiest thing to add is an orange, or a lemon, or a vanilla pod. It is also a much healthier version of the regular ice cream and not as bad for you.

oO it sounds like i need an Icecream machine... Any chance to find reciepes here which does not require a machine beside for "food processor" and general kitchen equipment...

I think the only benefit with the icecream machine if I understand it correct is that you will then avoid icecrystals in the ice. But that would take a test, im gonna attempt making homemade Ice next week I think :)

Oh yes! Do you have other ice cream recipes to share here? I am trying to search for other recipes too in order to make different taste of ice cream at home. However, hope that it is not too difficult to get the ingredients from supermarkets.
Well... let us discuss and share it here! :)
