Most of the students turn a deaf ear to what the proffessors teach us in the class rooms. Is this the way ti greet someone who takes so much pain to make us understand the concepts and the theory and much more.A person can only gain through listening to what your sir says. What do you have to say on this.?

Hi ravirai,
Teaching is not every one's cup of tea. So to be a commanding teacher first of all he/she must win the faith and trust of the student and he must adopt various method in delivering himself.
Student would surely give a deaf ear if the lecture is insipid and of no use. Besides now class room teaching is mere a formality only. I do not wonder in the act of the non listening students.

I gave up paying attention when I was paying $300 a semester to take classes when the professors spent more time talking about their personal lives than they did making an effort to make sure we learned anything. Granted, not all experiences are this way, but I'm paying them to teach me, not be nostalgic of their honeymoons and crap. Now when they did actually talk about the relevant, I always did pay attention. Not paying attention may be disrespectful, but if I wanna waste my money so be it... and if someone wants to ante up their funds on someone who isn't paying attention and advancing in their coursework, it's their perogative (sp) to cut the funding :P

those students that are turning a deaf ear to what the teaher is teaching in the class room are at first disrespecting the teacher and also disrespecting education and knowledge.
next, they are disrespecting their parents who are paying a huge amount of fees and doing so much for them
and finally, they are playing with their future and career.
listening is very important, not only what the teachers says but also what others say. one must carefully listen to what is being said because by listening one can gain a lot of knowlledge.

I'm assuming you are talking about college students in the U.S.A. Here's what I think. Look around. The students who are listening are probably people who are paying their own way through college. The ones who aren't listening probably are their on their parent's dollar and are only interested in partying. The same over indulgent parents who spoiled them rotten are now paying thousands of dollars so their kid can party in another town (college town) with other spoiled kids. When the kids flunks out, they simply move back with mommy and daddy and go on with their spoiled little lives. Hopefully, they won't live with their parents forever.

yes u r right .. oly a good listener can be a good thinker n he can achieve in de later part of life.the teacher not only teaches from his knowledge but also from his experience.he has sacrificed his life for the teaching profession so its always good to listen to him.by sharing knowledge we are not going to lose any thing in life but de other person gains something.so lets be a good listener .
