Do you use a travel agent when you want to travel?

I am considering training to be a travel agent and wondered what your experience was with them. Do you want to book everything yourself or would you rather use an agent who will do all the work for you?

I am in charge of booking travels for the company that I work for. Since we travel in large groups, I prefer to work with a travel agent to take care of all the details. For personal travels, I prefer to book everything myself. I've had some fantastic vacations over the years booking the travels myself.

misisbau, If you're looking to send a large group to India, look no further. I can arrange everything for you and your group at a very nominal rate, and definitely make your trip memorable.

I am an independent traveler rather than a tourist. A typical trip for me for me is to book a flight. Then I travel around a region staying in around five different places. Like one would be a city, another would be countryside and my last stop would be a beach. I choose to stay in locally owned guest houses and unusual accommodation like tree houses. I don't ever choose an all inclusive deal because the money doesn't spread to the local economy. I like to meet the local people, find out about their culture and watch the native wildlife. Good luck with becoming a travel agent if that is what you wish to do.

I don't use a travel agent because I prefer to make the travel arrangements myself. I jsut think that in today's day and age it is easier to make the arrangements yourself when everything is available online rather than going through a third party.

Unless it's an area that I am really has no clue whatsoever, I will try to travel on my own. Since I won't be traveling alone, all of us can get lost together! Well, I usually make research of the area and take along a map. It's more fun that way and feel a bit challenging. We also book the hotel ourselves. We only book for tour agent for certain activity like mountain climbing or island hopping.

Hello Stephwrites, I like to travel and when I travel abroad, far from my country, I normally choose to buy a tour package from a travel agent. It is more cheaper to take a tour package because if I book everything on my own, it will cause more expensive. The travel agent get the tour traveling for at least 15 person and they can get cheaper flight tickets and hotel rooms. More ever everything is settle by the travel agent, from tickets, accomodation, food, sight seeing and there will be tour leader and tour guide leading the tour. But if I travel within my own country or islands, I choose to book everything on my own. I familiar with places of interest in my country hence it is easy if I arrange the tour on my own. For vacation at the island, I like to book on my own because nothing much a travel agent can do for us, and we don't need a tour guide to bring us go around the travel. I prefer free and easy way when I am in an island.
