They have qualified in style. Winning every game so far and tying up qualification with two mathes to spare. Lets get ready for bitter disapointment in the Quarter Final next year. Watch out South Africa, the underacheivement kings are on their way.

England did qualify in style, but the teams they played against in this preliminary group cannot be compared to the teams England will play against in South Africa. They might meet some poor teams in the group stage (like some Asian or Central American teams), but from the quarters on, there is no easy game to play...
It's very encouraging that Fabio Capello qualified the team, but I think qualifying is the normality for a team with such players, and it's no great performance. The performance is yet to be expected at the World Cup! I know I'll keep an eye on England's football team!

of course england and croatia where the only top 10 fifa ranked clubs in our groups. yes, your right qualifying should be a big acheivement to a team with players like england. But they failed to qualify for euro 2008 didnt they ha.

I hope they can avoid the "Big team" from South America and Central America in the group stage. They might have to face Paraguay and Mexico or United State in that group. Even they might have problem with Asian team like North and South Korea. Every games a crucial especially for those who play for pride like North Korea. They never face them before so it is hard to predict the result.

I have to say I am so disappointed with England's performance in the world cup final. Everyone in England team is exceptional player and star. But as a team, they always fail to progress in quarter final. It seems to be a problem that England has diffcuilty when facing skillful team like Brazil and Portugal. But Capello is a great coach and has changed Engand so much. Hope they can win three lions glory in South Africa.

Here. Here. I agree Capello is a great coach. He also has a squad with otential to actually win it. He just needs to get his very best of them. Many of the current players will be well past their best in 2014. This is englands best chance in years. thanks for responding.

Hi thepohms,
Games between the qualification and final has a lot of differences. The only team that can give England problem in this qualification is Croatia. But you can't have that leisure in the Final. Every team are the best from their continental. And since each group have a team from different continental, England might have difficulty in the group stage. They might have Brazil, Mexico or United State and South Korea in the same group.
And after the world cup 1966, they never deliver the favorite tag that come with them. And they will have difficulty to progress if they have to face Brazil or Germany in the knockout stage just like they always fail in previous edition. But I hope they can do it right this time.

We are the official 'Underachievers of International Football'. Like you say though I also hope they can live up to their 'Tag' in South Africa. Brazil in the groups would be a challenge. I dont see either of Mexico, U.S.A or S.Korea causing england too much threat. But you neer know with dodgy england.

England is one team that incredible in qualification world cup Seouth Africa,
and if they consistent will can talk much in world cup South Africa. reach that England get right now, I think because they have a good coach Fabio Capello, not because they have good player

England certainly have a lot to thank Capello for.. Mybe saying that England doesnt have good players is a bit much though. How about, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Johnsohn. Many many good players for England. Thanks for responding, solatjumat. Have a nice day.
