Is it true guys that it is health wise if we drink first a glass of water before every meal? Is it true also that we must wait a little while before drinking water after our meals? Are you doing this? Is there any medical explanation about this? Please share what you know about this...

What I have heard is if you drink a glass of water before you eat then you won't eat as much. It suppose to help you with portion control which then will help you lose weight. I don't know about drinking a glass of water after the meal. I don't see what the problem would be. I usually drink ice green tea while I eat my lunch or dinner.

Yeah. Here's what I would add. They said that it is much to have a glass of water before you eat specially if you already starving in order your intestine separates before you eat. The stomach pain occurs most likely because your intestine grinding each sides with nothing on it, and when you suddenly eat without having liquid first that's the time pain occurs... Another thing, they said you must not drink not after a while from eating meals. In this way you've given your stomach a time to digest all the nutrients purely without water yet..I am not sure if I am saying correctly he he h he thanks for responding..

I tend to drink two large glasses of water every morning before breakfast. I believe it is good to help re-hydrate the body after sleep. I should really drink water regularly during the day, but I tend to forget a lot. I do drink tea though, and that is made with water.. - Derek

hi mobhomeir I drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, two with each meals and several in between meals and at bedtimes per my doctors'suggestions. we need to keep hydrated for good health' as our bodies are mostly water, and we need to keep it in good 'proportions. water in the right amount is good for our health.

Hello friend, I do not know the medical explanation on this but know that drinking water five minutes before your meal and five to ten minutes after is good for digestion of the food. No I do not wait for that long after my meal.

Hello again my friend. Here some information I knew about that, I would tell you though it is not proven yet by some medical experts. When you feel too hungry you feel pain in your stomach because your empty stomach with your intestine are grinding without anything on it. Both sides of your intestine are sticking each other. If you suddenly eat something solid without taking first liquid of course it would pass between the two sides of your intestine that's why you feel pain. However if you drink liquid first the inner part of your intestine that is sticking would separate giving space the food you take... Resting for a while before taking water after meal would give your digestive system time to absorb all the nutrients of the food you have just taken...okay that's it..do i sound like a nutritionist? he he he thanks my friend krajibg..

Hello Martin, Drinking water before meal is to healp reduce the solid intake,(advisable for those who wants to loose weight). And,drinking water one hour after each meal is good for indigestion...by not drinking water soon as we finish eating is...to let the the natural enzymes digest the food that we eat. For a better digestion, this is very much advisable with maturing people(as we grow older our digestive system slows, and with our metabolism)we should eat fruits one hour before meal, and never eat fruits after meal.Becoz, fruits have natural enzymes that can be easily digest by our system, hence, eating fruit after meal will leave the other foods with no enzymes in our digestive system and this caused the intestines to blocked, and, this is one reason why people becomes constipated.(not regular toilet habit).

I read on health articles about that. For suggestion, We must drink fresh water when woke up and before sleep. And we must drink 1 glass (300 ml) fresh water before eat and drink 1 glass (more than 300 ml) after eat. Before sleep -- that have function to clean your intestines from poison in your body. when woke up -- that have function give flush for acid in your stomach before eat -- Clean your intestines, so your meal smoothly goes to your intestines after eat -- push your meals to your intestines

I've never heard of having to wait a while after eating to drink a glass of water. I always drink water while I'm eating, to make sure food goes down properly, and to cleanse my palate between bites, so I will be able to appreciate the different flavours of the various foods that I am eating. Also a glass of water before meals takes the edge off of the appetite.

i don't drink before meal time it's because i could not each as much as i would like to, especially if the food is my favorite. i only drink after eating. but in the office or during work, i drink a lot of water. my wife will get mad at the kids that when they arrive from school and each meal time, they drink first before eating. i don't see any problem with that except that you can't take much food because you are almost full.

No my friend...that was the concept of my parents before, which just lately i realized not right. Drinking not too much of water before eating from our hungry stomach would separate our intestine from grinding which the cause of our hungriness since there's no more food in our intestine to grind that's we feel hungry. If you directly absorb solid foods from that we feel stomach pain, have you feel and observe it already? To avoid that..we must take a glass of water to lubricate our intestine and separate it from the passing of solid foods, to avoid stomach pain... Thanks for responding kabayan Mobhomeir here...
