I stumpled upon those highly common mistakes that people do when they file for immigration. This was about Canada Immigration, but I believe it is useful for any country.

Unbelievably common mistakes!
-----------------------------
Forgetting to sign some forms:
It is more common than you would think, so always double-check all forms. Also children and dependants must sign their own name if they are adults.
Translation of documents:
Do not assume officials will take the time to translate your documents, they won't! You have to provide a certified translation of each and every document written in a foreign language, such as birth certificates, mariage certificates, etc...
Incomplete applications:
Missing forms can lead to delayed processing time or even to rejection of your application all-together. Always double-check all requirements and make sure nothing has been left behind.
Over-Trusting information online:
Always beware of sources of the information you find online as well as the dates. Immigration forms and laws change very frequently. Always make sure you have valid and up to date information.

Hey ricknkae, I'm all to familar wealinh with immigration. If it's not me dealing with Thai Immigration, it's my with and the Australian counterpart. At present, I'm in the middle of getting a three month extension for my wife. It's not fun and games.

That's really horrible if you forget to sign your application. Sometimes people get too anxious, nervous, excited, or simply can't concentrate and these causes problems. Online information is sometimes a blessing and a curse. When I was applying for a visa extension I had to pore over loads of information online but couldn't find the exact application I needed. Fortunately, I found a landline number that I called and it took about half an hour before someone talked to me but I'm lucky to have gotten the information I needed.
Then again when I was going to Italy I was already advised by the Italian embassy that I didn't need a visa to go there. I printed the email which was in English and when we arrived in Italy the immigration officer couldn't speak English. But when I showed them the letter from the Italian embassy they just looked at it and then stamped my passport.
