My first kiss! WOW! It's enough to make a mom so happy she cries!

A year ago, it was my first hug. Now it's my first kiss. My son is four and a half and I just got my first kiss. He was looking in the mirror and as I often do I pick him up and give him a kiss. He made the sounds back and imitated the pucker. He kept watching it in the mirror. It was soooo adorable. When was your first kiss from your autistic child or loved one?

That's great! I'm not sure when I got my first kiss. My son likes to hug me though and sit on my lap, which is nice!

He doesn't sit on my lap much but he gives me hugs occassionally. I thought it was so special to get a kiss. I still can't believe it. It's one of those things you can only share with another autistic mom. You're lucky your son still sits on your lap, I think mine does only when he is sick, tired, or scared.

Mine does it for 2 reasons: 1. he thinks he's getting away with something because I tell him NOT to 2. to calm him down when he's upset Well sometimes he does it just because.

When it's affection I don't mind him sitting on my lap. I like it when he wants to be picked up. It's a little hard to pick up a 43 pound kid though. The funny thing is, his sister weighs 51 pounds and she honestly feels lighter than he does.

I was excited! He thinks it's funny because he looks in the mirror and laughs as I kiss him. I think he just thinks of it as a game. LOL That's okay. I'll take affection anyway I can get it from him. LOL

My son has always gave hugs & kisses, but at one point around 18 months he stopped doing that & we missed it for some time. He is now 3, & at times its hard to get a kiss, we do get hugs more. Sometimes when I ask for a kiss, he will just lean in real fast & give me his cheek & then take off. He is actually a lovable guy. I do know that when he would get hurt, he would never let me comfort him. I felt like I was doing something wrong, but recently he will actually come running to me now & try to show me where it hurts & he will let me baby him & then I get my hugs and kisses big time, then some eye contact and a smile... :D

Not quite a kiss, but one of my students drew a picture of a dinosaur crying when i had to move on to another school. He told me that the dinosaurs would miss me.

That's so sweet. That's good he could express it with words as well as a picture, even if it was dinosaurs. You must have really made a difference!
