I love them. For many years I had to eat them at my mom´s house as my hubby hated them. After he died, I startedto make some food he couldn´t eat for his illness and other he did not like. Garbanzo was one of them. I make it with pork legs. It gives it a wonderful taste. Many times I also put some rice.
How do you make them? What do you do with them? I´d love to try new recipes.
Happy posting to all!!!

I like them on tossed salads. They add a nice flavor. I also use them to make hummus, which is a big hit with the family. A pita sandwich with roasted peppers and onions, and a few bean sprouts is a wonderful light meal. Eating that way is good, because it saves room for dessert. LOL.

I have learned a lot with this post. I only used garbanzos for hot main dishes. It seems that you can make wonders using them cold, as a salad.
How do you make hummus, friend? I love it but have never made it myself.
Happy posting!

Once you try it, you'll always want some on hand! My recipe is from Recipezaar, http://www.recipezaar.com/Hummus-8649
It's very simple, but so flavorful! It's also an easy and adaptable recipe. I've added other ingredients just to be creative, such as onion, sun-dried tomato and/or roasted red peppers. Once you make it, serve it with assorted veggies, flatbread and bagel chips. My son likes it with pretzels...lol. You can easily make a cool meal for a warm evening. Bet your grandson would love a 'fondue' dinner.

When I make grilled chicken salad, I put them in the salad. I think they taste really good with the grilled chicken. Sometimes I put them in pork stew, too.

I have never used them in a salad. I´ll try it. I make baked chicken often (it´s unexpensive and has many lives) and I could put them in a chicken salad. YUMMY!!!
Thanks for sharing!

I too love garbanzo beans. My mom use to make them in spanish rice. I love them any which way. I sometimes just add them to my salads or I make them with chopped onion, garlic and olive oil, chill in fridge then enjoy. Also, they are great because they are healthy for you.

seems its a nice dish, but I can not eat pork at home, my landlord is a pure vegetarian and does not allow us to cook any non veg item, though I secretly boil eggs and sometimes make omalette too, but guess pork will create a lot of smell and he will sense this.

yes i love garbanzo beans, one can eat them as salad or make a proper dish. They are also called chick peas and i love to cook them with sauce and then eat them with fried or baked all-purpose flour pancake made from dough that is formed by flour, yeast, curd, salt and oil. Yummy!

Hi Marguicha
Garbanzo beans are one of my favorite things to put in my salad I like to put in some garbanzo beans, kidney beans, string beans, to make a 3 bean salad with a little oil and vinager dressing its great. Those type of beans go good with just about any type of salad or soup, you can also puree the beans and make a nice dip
