do you believe that helping your children with their homework is really helping them in the long run? shouldn't they be attentive in class, follow the rules ask question and be responsible for their own work? they don't do your work, why do their?

It all depends how you help them. I you DO their homework, you are not helping them. But if your job is to further motivate them to like the subject, they will be people who love to learn. Happy posting!

Dear jen, When I was young...no tuition and no guidance from parents on my homework at all. If I can do it, I believe the new generation of children can do it too! However, many parents said that the world nowadays are very competitive. They are packed with extra school curriculum, tuitions, homework from school and tuitions too So, some parents will help their children on less important subject like Arts -draw and clour for them. Moral or Sivik, poster etc.... Tks & Cheers

in the starting when the child is young merely a kid of KG, class 1 or 2 , parents should help the child in the home work, it is their responsibility to help the child in their starting time. Once they catch the routine of doing their home work themselves them its the best for them as well as the parents also.

I will check my younger brother’s home work after he accomplishes it. when I find any mistake, I will tell him the number of the mistakes but i will not point out where are them.

I don't believe that helping the children with their homework is really helping them in the long run.Because I am as a home-teacher and go to the students' home. After I teaching the students,I found this boy become much rely on me.Rather,he is not responsible for their own work.

Well, we need to help them on their homework at certain ages, after which they will carry it by themselves. They need our help at the young ages, the idea and basics, once they are done, they will find it easy when they grow up.

I believe that helping children with their homework should never mean doing the work for them. I think parents have a responsibility to guide their children when it comes to school work. We need to help them to establish good study habits, to instill in them the understanding that homework is important and that they must complete it and we should also follow-up to ensure that they are doing what is required. Once they have acquired good habits, then they should be responsible for their own work. My girls are older now (almost 16 and 19) and they still ask for help and recommendations occasionally (such as when they are stuck for a theme for a paper or they are having trouble finding material while researching). I believe parents should be supportive throughout their child's education.
